There's a shuttle launch scheduled for 2:30am on March 11, the night before our 4-day cruise gets to Castaway Cay. Do you think the launch will be viewable from sea?

OH YA! Last year they did a night launch and the Captain sailed back to shore and positioned the ship just so we all could go up on deck and see it. WOW, it was very cool. It was so bright, almost like day time. So, Yes to your question and good luck!

We saw a night launch on the Magic once...SPECTACULAR!!!!! AMAZING!!! Lile watching a trail of fire shoot up into the sky. One of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen.

We were at that night launch as well, (Hi goofy!).

The Captian and crew kept up with the shuttle schedule and made sure we were able to see it. They also showed the launch and countdown on the big screen on deck.

We were in the middle of dinner during the launch and the servers kept us up to date on the timing. Just before the main course we all, and I mean the whole restaurant, went out on deck 4 to watch. Behind us I heard a server saying to another. "Should we be out here? Our job is inside" The other server answered. "All our guests are here and we are serving them here."
I seconded that.

We missed the "Show" for AP but it was so worth it.

I crossed one thing off my "Bucket List".

Have fun and good luck.

Hi Minniemom & Goofy. We were also on the 12/9/06 cruise and saw the shuttle launch. Everything was wonderful. Dh even got some really nice shots of it and shutterbug had a wonderful shot for everyone to buy of course. The launch actually was scheduled for several days before our cruise but kept being pushed back. don't plan your cruise around the launch because of this point. also, remember that traffice will be worse on the day of the launch so you should plan accordingly.

Thanks for all your replies. We leave on the Wonder this Sunday, and everything looks good for launch the night after our Nassau day.

I hope they sail back to Port Canaveral, at least as much as is feasible. I can hardly wait!
