We are having dinner at Chef Mickeys on November 1st and the shuttle is due to launch at 4:30. Does anyone know a good location to watch the launch from at the Contemporary? I dont think we can go to the observation deck since we wont be dining at California Grill so I need some options....my husband is dying to see the launch. I tried moving our Ohana reservation to this day so we could see it from the beach but there arent any reservations available.

The observation deck might not be the best spot.

What you want is an unobstructed view of the eastern/slightly northeastern sky. You may be better off going down to the CR beach or marina so you won't have trees or buildings blocking any part of the horizon right in front of you. The view won't really be that much different from a fourth floor vantage point than a ground floor vantage point, and you don't want to take the chance the it will go up right behind BLT.

We'll be there too and I have that listed on my daily itinerary for that day. We are staying at BLT.

We will be there on November 1st but thought we would have to go to Cocoa Beach or Titusville to view the launch. Anyone who has ever viewed the launch from anywhere in Disney World can you advise if you were happy with your view or did you think you should have gone somewhere else. If you were happy where did you view the launch? Thanks for your answers.

We actually saw the launch one time at Pop Century standing in line to catch the bus. We heard a noise and looked up and you could see the shuttle overhead. It was an awesome treat!!

Since it's a late afternoon launch, you should be able to see pretty well. You should be able to tell the shuttle from the vapor trail, because the sun should be reflecting on it. You will also probably be able to clearly see when the boosters are ejected. Of course, a lot depends on the weather that day - if it's cloudy or hazy that will definitely affect your ability to see it. To be honest, unless you're right at the Space Center, the view isn't all that much different here in Orlando than it is on the coast. I've seen it from Cocoa Beach, and I'd rather watch from home than fight the traffic going to the coast.

It really depends on how clear the sky is that day. The last time we were there it was clear except a few clouds and the clounds blocked our view.
