Does anyone know if their is a shuttle or bus from the disneyland area to the beach? We are staying at a hotel near disney and would like to go see the beach while we are there. Thanks!

Good question. Last time, a friend of ours that lives nearby did the driving, but this time we're on our own. I'd love to know, also.

Grayline does a tour that goes to Newport Beach, but I don't know the details.

I checked greyline and that would be a bit more expensive. I was trying to figure out if we could take a public bus. But its hard to figure out which one would be easiest to get to (least transfers). Anyone live around the area and know which beach would be easiest to ride a public bus too?

An all day pass is just 4.00 and Newport Beach seems to be easiest.

Your trip will take approximately 1h23 min. You have 1 transfer(s).

Walk to HARBOR-EAST SHUTTLE AREA in ANAHEIM, stop #0247

Take HARBOR BLVD and walk to HARBOR-EAST SHUTTLE AREA in ANAHEIM, stop #0247, it is on the right (+/- 1 min.).

At 9:43 AM, take Route 043 South. Exit bus at NEWPORT-18TH in COSTA MESA, stop #1252 at 10:35 AM.

At 9:43 AM, take Route 043 South and get off at stop #1252, NEWPORT-18TH, street NEWPORT (COSTA MESA) following street 18TH. Last intersections: 19TH ST, NEWPORT BLVD, 18TH ST.

Wait 10 minute(s).

Transfer at NEWPORT-18TH in COSTA MESA, stop #1252. At 10:45 AM, take Route 071 South. Exit bus at NEWPORT-23RD in NEWPORT BEACH, stop #5040 at 11:00 AM.

At 10:45 AM, take Route 071 South and get off at stop #5040, NEWPORT-23RD, street 23RD (NEWPORT BEACH) following street NEWPORT. Last intersections: 28TH ST, 26TH ST, 23RD ST.

Walk to NEWPORT PIER.

Anyone know an easier route?

Sounds like it would be easier to just rent a car for the day at Alamo in Downtown Disney. The last time I checked a midsize was around $50+ dollars for a day.

We didn't want to rent a car for the whole week this time either. I am torn because we have been to the beach many times but we love it so much. The torn part is that I really would love to spend the day riding the ferry over to Catalina.
Good luck on your decision.

I wish I could but we have 12 people so that means renting at least two mini vans and that is a bit of work just doing that :)

Newport Beach is an excellent choice!!! I'm not familiar with the transportation options, but I can tell you that parking can be difficult. (In fact, that's the only negative thing you will ever hear me say about Newport!) So if a shuttle is an option, that might work well.

Also, keep in mind that Newport includes both the Newport Pier (busier, more bars) and the Balboa Pier. If you have kids, then the Balboa Pier is a great option - Ruby's restaurant at the end of the pier has a carry out window and inside/outside seating. The Fun Zone is located near the Balboa Pier, and you can take the ferry over to Balboa Island for shops/restaurants on Marine Avenue (turn right when you get off the ferry and walk several blocks along the bay to Marine Ave. and turn left.)

If you are near the Newport Pier (which is at about 20th street), there are great spots on the beach near 15th Street. They have bathrooms, outside showers, 15th St. Surf shop for rentals, Fry's Market for beach toys, sodas, candy, and the Stuft Surfer for burgers, ice cream, soda, etc. Stuft Surfer has limited inside seating, but you can carry out or eat on the picnic tables on the sand. There is also a great playground on the beach in front of the elementary school at 13th Street.

As always, happy to answer any questions about Newport!!! (Except for the shuttle/bus ones -sorry!)
