Hi, I have read that "Shutters" offers a studio setting - professional photographic session for family portraits while onboard. Just wondering if anyone has done this before and if they thought it was well worth the money or not? What was the price for the session and what did it include? If possible, would you share some of your photos so I can see the style of photo, backgrounds choices etc. Many thanks

They set up backgrounds and take pictures Several times. It doesn't cost extra you just buy the pictures. We love them. If you are getting dressed up anyway let them take your picture

It is one of the "perks" of being the ship. Free (non-fee) sittings for portraits. they set up every evening, except the last (around the lobby area) with multiple backdrops.

Generally they snap two or 3 different shots, but I have seen some photographers spends 30 minutes shooting a family. Generally the first couple of nights the lines are not very long, but they become longer through out the cruise.

We ran into a couple of friends that got the CD package (CD of all shots and all the prints) and the photographers knew that so they would get them in different poses and different combinations (1 or 2 ). When I ran into them on departure morning and they were going through all their prints. They had over 500 prints.

DW and I for our 25th Anniversary recreated some of our wedding shots (we were married on a cruise ship).
We had the pictures with us, contacted Shutters, they put us directly in contact with one of the photogs, we scheduled a date/time for a photo session (made it for the one hour before his shift started on formal night), went to several places around the ship that were closed off at that time, and no extra charge for his time/session though we did tip him.

You can set up a special session for a group with Shutters directly after they open the first night once you leave port. It is better to get this set up ASAP. It makes it nice to get group shots in the atrium when it is not crowded, as well as other locations around the ship. The last time I heard of someone looking into this, they were told that there would be a $50 fee. I do not know if they ended up having to pay this or not.
