Shutters has barely any reviews or pictures on TripAdvisor and Yelp.

Does anyone have an opinion on the place. I am hesitant because I have never heard of it until this trip. I am eyeing the steak and shrimp entrée.

Our original plan was to eat at Wolfgang Puck Express the first night with a quick service credit, so we would have an extra credit for a signature dining. However, if enough people say Shutters is worth it, we may go there our first night.

Thanks!

Watching this thread! My "please rave about Olivia's" thread isn't producing the reviews I'd hoped for, so let's see if Shutters does any better.

I ate there 10 years ago & have no desire to go back. Worst meal I've had at WDW, just blah. However, I believe they've gotten a new chef/menu since then, so perhaps things have changed since I've been there.

I'd go to Wolfgang Puck Express long before I'd even consider using a TS Credit at Shutters. Stick with your original plan & use that TS for a signature restaurant.

That's funny, because I consider WPE to be the worst meal we've ever had at WDW :)

The Express at Wolfgang Puck's Grand Café is supposed to be really good, though. I think that is where we originally though we were going, but ended up at the other one.

There are several good reviews of Shutters on the CBR thread recently. People raving about it since the new chef took over.

I ate there this Spring Break. Everyone got sick the day before (flu), so I cancelled our in park reservations. Next day, everyone better. I made a last minute reservation (two hours before dining time). I remember thinking it was okay. I had a nice frozen drink and the steak. So, it was okay, but nothing to rave over. I did like the last minute availability, and of course, it was convenient, since I was staying at CBR. The service was a little slow.

We stayed at CBR but had not made ADR's there. We had dinner at Coral Reef booked but by 1 my little dgd was exhausted, so we went back to the resort. I called the concierge and made an adr at shutters, and cancelled CR. Best decision ever! The food was delicious! Service excellent! My Kady had food allergies snd the Chef came out to discuss her options, but also gave us suggestions for her in regards to breakfast at the good court. I love it!

I have heard that Shutters has dramatically improved recently... but if you want a good laugh go listen to the DIS podcast where Kevin reviews it (several years ago). Hilarious!

OMG, I'm listening to this review right now... You're right, this is HILARIOUS!!!

I'm dying!!! Hahaha!!

I went there a few years ago. It was alright at best. I think you just have to be into Caribbean food. It wasn't bad, but I won't go back just because there are places I would rather go.

We ate there this January while we were staying at CBR. We really enjoyed the food. We had the fish of the day. It was tasty, hot, and well prepared (not overcooked and dry.) The setting suffered a bit from its proximity to the food court. The hostess walked us into the edge of the food court on the way to our table which was in a room walled off from the food court. We could hear some noise from the food court so we asked for a table further from the doorway, which she cheerfully took us to.
Service was good. We would certainly eat there again.

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Citrus Poached Shrimp
. . . entree:.. Jerk Rubbed Mahi Mahi, Vegetarian Pasta
. . . dessert:. Tropical Fruit Cobbler
.
NOTE: The eatery is simply not anything special, It has an array of "Caribbean
Inspired" food, but only average or below average on the quality scale. If you are
hungry and do not want to go off the resort site, it is OK. However, doing it once
per vacation is probably overload. We thought it highly overpriced for the quality
and quantity of food; just could not understand mahi for $21 or a 10oz streak for
$30. For the money and quality, I would recommend the food court - turkey, pork
at reasonable Disney prices. About the only good point is Tropical Fruit Cobbler.

I think you will enjoy it! It's nice to have a relaxing meal at your own resort sometimes, and I thought the food was very good. I remember thinking it was delivered to the table more hot and fresh than many of the other restaurants we ate at that week. Dessert was yummy too!

We have eaten at Shutters the last 2 trips and have an ADR set again. It has gotten much better since our first stay.
