Does Shula's have a dress code? I know that it is supposed to be business casual and some dress formal, but does anyone go straight from a park there to eat? Also, we love the Yachtsman - would this be better or not as good?
Thanks! Is sharing allowed at Shula's and although we've never done it, could you split a meal at the Yachtsman?

Shula's is the king of place where you should probably be as close to business casual as possible. I wear nice shorts and a collared shirt and that works. As for coming from the parks, that depends on how you dress for the parks. I don't know if you would be turned away if you show up in cut-offs and a t-shirt, but you might get a disapproving look or two. Let me put it this way: the restrooms are across the hall and there is a valet to hand you a towel to dry your hands and a tip would be appropriate. Figure it out from there.

As for sharing, I don't know about the meals, but it's pretty common to share a baked potato since they're huge and you will need all the room you can save for their cuts of meat. A good hint, especially if you're a meat lover would be not to fill up too much on bread and appetizers.

As for comparing Shula's to the Yachtsman, there is no comparison.

"cut-offs" are not in my wardrobe but your breakdown does help. Sounds like a perfect dinner for the first night there.
I had the porterhouse at the Yachtsman last year and it really was wonderful. Didn't even need a knife to cut it.
You did make me wonder, what is an appropriate tip for a bathroom attendant to hand you a towel? $2 ???

While my family hasn't eaten at Shula's, we did visit the Swan/Dolphin restaurants a surprising number of times on our last trip and here's what we experienced. We could walk right into the Il Mulino Trattoria with no ADR in our jeans and T-shirts after a long day in the park no problem at all. The conventioneers in their business suits didn't give us a second thought and neither did the servers.

Il Mulino, by the way, was our favorite new discovery this trip. If you'd like to eat at a very nice place that isn't too stuffy or pretentious, my family could not recommend it enough. The food is fantastic, with many unusual dishes (I already miss the delicious pasta with mushrooms) and you get free Limoncello at the end. And if there should tragically be a wait over twenty minutes, you can walk right across the hallway and listen to the people singing Karaoke at Kimonos!

1) Ate their three weeks ago.
2) I wore shorts, tennies and a collared shirt.
3) Many others dressed the same way.
4) This is not a city-Shula's; it is a resort Shula's.

$2 is what I usually tip.

A lot of folks get confused on what "business casual" is. Here in Florida, shorts are so commonplace that they are acceptable most of the time. I only mention this because what I see some people wearing around the parks is barely appropriate for the beach. Off-topic a bit, one of the most entertaining activities at WDW is people-watching. On three different occasions in Epcot during 2011 I noticed ladies with anatomy hanging out and one gentleman wearing cowboy boots and spurs. I'm still trying to figure out where he parked his horse.

I'm sure you'll be fine at Shula's. :thumbsup2
