Shula's and childcare?

We did this on our June trip. It worked OK, but be sure to call Camp Dolphin to confirm your reservation for child care, and to confirm what time your child MUST be there in order to eat and get in--we had to run to get there in time. DD (11) was a little bored until they went to the arcade, then she didn't want to leave. We paid when we picked her up, Shulas gave us a second receipt to leave with them, and thye just took the cost of 2 hours off.

I think we were afraid we would spend too much at Shulas so we were so conservative that it ended up being much cheaper than I expected. Next time, I want to try Blue Zoo.

Just made my ressie for Camp Dolphin AND Shula's! The Camp Dolphin folks didn't answer their phone, but they were very prompt at returning my message (within the half-hour). They gave me a run- down on the basic "itinerary" there. The WDWDINE folks had given me a choice of 5:30 or 6:45 for ressie at Shula's -- based on the activity schedule, I went with the 6:45. I will get the kids there by 6:30 (she said they need to be there before 7 pm -- they dine at 7). Video games and tokens at 8, after that a Disney movie. DH and I will head to dinner as soon as they are settled in time for our 6:45 PS. Understand too that DH is a HUGE football fan -- albeit philadelphia eagles (not Dolphins) but most avid foaming at mouth sports fans (aka my dh) show proper "awe" for any sportastic achievement! He will think Shula's is way cool. And the menu is very in keeping with his tastes -- it's fine dining (which I like) but not new age frilly stuff (that gives dh the hives.) I am keeping the whole thing a SURPRISE, too! Not telling DH and the kids anything about it... My kids begged us last trip to stay at the kid's club at WL -- but our youngest was only 2. Now she's 4 and rarin' to go! And DH and I will get a few hours of together time -- what's not to love?!?

And I owe it all to these boards and you wonderfully informed folks! THANKS!

Hi everyone... we just got back this past week and used this wonderful service at Camp Dolphin for our 9 (going on 10 year old) DD. She LOVED it and wanted to go back the next night...

The only difference I can see in the info I was given, was that my DD had to be there by 6:00 PM sharp if she was going to eat dinner... (This was okay with us since our reservations were at 5:45 PM). Maybe they were going over to Tubbi's earlier than normal for dinner. There is no EXTRA charge for their meal, so you essentially get that free as well! Can you beat that? I think not...! LOL!

We found her 3 hrs later in the Arcade having a blast with her bag full of tokens. We enjoyed our meal so much, we stayed later for coffee and conversation!

I was under the impression this free 2 hour child care was for any Swan or Dolphin restaurant... that would include Palios and Kimonos. So be sure to check, if you do not wish to dine at BlueZoo or Shulas!

The food at Shulas is awesome! However, plan ahead, its hard to get an opening at Camp Dolphin at the last minute.

The menu is a football, but that is the only really "sporty" thing about the rest., it does seem like its been decorated by a man though. Not frilly at all, the service is impecible, well at least the 2 times I was there it was. The menu is alacart, and the portions are very plentiful, so dont order to much! DH has his name on the wall of fame not once but twice!! Thats how good the steak is! Enjoy

I do already have my ressies for my trio of kids at Camp Dolphin -- did that right before I made the ressies at Shula'a -- but I am concerned about the conflict in info on what time to show up for dinner for the kids. I'll call again when we get down there and confirm what time dinner is -- push comes to pull, we'll take the kids at 6 and show up for Shula's early -- after all, as Disney is always so quick to remind us, a PS isn't a true reservation -- it just means you get next available seating. If the place isn't packed, it shouldn't be an issue. And worst case scenario, we wait til 6:45 -- i could deal with that.

Thansk again folks for the help!

I'm glad you made a PS. You'll love it! Shulas will be almost empty before 7:00pm since it's an adult restaurant.
