My boys love shrimp, so we booked a PS at O'hana's. I read somewhere that it's peel-n-eat shrimp...is this true? It will make a difference to them. Someone please let us know!

Yes it is peel and eat shrimp. All their food comes off skewers from the firepit. Shrimp was good, had a time with it though!!

It's definitely peel-n-eat and it is great! It is also very messy but I don't have a problem with that....more reason to lick my fingers. :D

Yes, but it is hot and barbecued peel and eat shrimp. Very, very good, and very, very messy.

They're not just shrimp, they're Tiger Shrimp! Each one weighs about 12 pounds.

Okay, that's an exaggeration, but they are very large shrimp.

And tasty.

Btw, they bring you a huge skewer of chicken, pork (?)steak, and shrimp, I asked my server to only bring steak and shrimp, but he threw the other stuff on my plate, I refused to use up stomach room on anything but that shrimp!! LOL, so when I was done, I waved and asked for more shrimp, which he brought, nice and hot!! (dh was nice trying to clean his plate!)

I love the shrimp at O'Hana. Some people think the seasoning is too spicy. If so, you can request to get a skewer without seasoning. The chefs are very accomodating.

Also, they bring out hot towels to clean your hands with.

I love the shrimp and I am not a shrimp eater. It has a very good taste.

I guess I am in the minority here, but I think the shrimp at 'Ohana is tough and overcooked. Cooking shrimp just right is not easy, you just can't cook it too long or it gets tough quickly. We have been to 'Ohana 3 times and this was my experience all 3 times.

I love the shrimp at 'Ohana! If you don't want to get messy and peel it you can just eat it w/the shell on- its roughage..... :crazy2: :teeth: -Stephanie

no, you're absolutely right, but it takes a special touch. emeril's does shrimp so it's almost like eating butter. 'ohana does it for the masses and overcooked is better than undercooked in the seafood realm. it's still a cool place to eat. :D

The first time I hate at Ohana (two years ago) I thought the shrimp was a bit tough and not worth the hassle or the mess to eat many of them.

However, we ate there on Christmas Eve of this year and the shrimp were perfect and delicious! Some of the best I've had! :teeth:

I also did not care for the shrimp. It was slightly overdone, but the main problem, to me at least, is that when you peeled off the shell all the flavor and seasonings went with it. I did not think the shrimp had much flavor at all and I had to lick the mess off my fingers to get any seasoning.

I know this is a very silly question, but we are going to Ohana's in March and my DS12 loves shrimp(I mean LOVES it) but he also loves cocktail sauce, do they serve it with cocktail sauce. TIA

The shrimp already has spices on it. I've never seen cocktail sauce, but maybe they have some in the kitchen. You could ask.

I thought the shrimp was a little spicy in Dec. It was messy peeling, but they brought hot towels - I still needed to wash my hands though.
