Shrek2 was awesome

Are there any SCAREY parts in this sequel? I know the dragon in the first movie could be a bit intense for younger viewers. THANKS!

We saw the movie earlier today with some Grandkids....all of us kids enjoyed it...

sfbank.... WELCOME! ...and i'll agree 1000% with jwfla422....those are words of wisdom!

Enjoy your trip..I hope it's magical!

I think I laughed the hardest about the "Catnip". Won't explain any further as I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet!!!
Ah yes, one of the funniest moments of the film. Also loved the fresh-ground pepper in the same scene. :p

Not as good as the original, but still worth the nine bucks. The beginning of the film dragged a bit for me, but once the fairy godmother came into it, the rest of the film was very enjoyable. :teeth:

I'll see it today, but I LOATHED Shrek 1, so I'm not expecting too much.

I just couldn't stand the constant gloating of the Shrek people after the first movie acting like they had reinvented animation or something (if anyone gets credit for the boom in computer animation, it's Pixar). Also, the potshots at Disney were extremely eyerolling, as was the so-called "progressive"message at the end, where they ripped of Beauty & the Beast's ending. They were saying Shrek's ending was more PC and daring because the beautiful princess doesn't end up with an equally beautiful prince. Well, so what? In Shrek, an ugly princess ends up wth an ugly prince. Ugly ends up with ugly....its the exact same message as B&B except in inverse.

It's nice for the animators that Shrek did so well, but it's not like they were the first people ever to use pop cultural humor in a movie. I also thought the animation itself looked like an Atari game in comparison to Pixar. From what I read, we'll probably be seeing Shrek 3 and 4 and who knows how many others. I'll believe in Dreamworks animation when they come up with something really successful besides Shrek.

Decided the whole family will go this afternoon. Left a message telling my brother he is welcome to join us but he can't have our kids for this one - it's a package deal.

Saw it Friday night and it was a hoot! I think we are going back again this afternoon. In our little (and I mean little!) town theater, tix are $3.50 at the full price. It costs more for the popcorn than the tix for our family!

On the way out, I ran into Rae519 and her family. Great evening!

Did anybody else notice that Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty (aka Disney princesses) were not presented in the most favorable light?!?!?!

I don't recall there being anything dark or intense, like the dragon scene in the first film.

Hm. I just saw it. Sorry to say I did little more than smile during the movie. Most of the stuff (especially the LoTR nod) made me roll my eyes.

Sorry Dreamworks. I don't care how many theaters you release this in and how much money it makes....you're no Pixar.

We just saw it for the second time today, had to take Dad. I caught a few more of the inside jokes this time. No, it wasn't guffaw-inducing like Shrek I, but it was enjoyable. One reviewer said we would miss a lot of dialog because of laughing, didn't happen in our full theatre.

Exciting preview of Harry Potter III today, though. And as we were leaving, they were letting people into a sneak preview of HP! Odd because there was a security guard at the door of that one, wanding people.

One maybe scary part in Shrek II, if your kids are very young. Shrek and Fiona are fighting, and Shrek says "I AM an ogre!", and roars. The roar made a little kid at our showing cry! There were a lot of kids around us today 2 and under, and they were very bored.

I do love Antonio Banderas, and he doesn't disappoint.

I took my DD7 to see this today. I have not seen the first one (never wanted to because of all the jabs at Disney) so I was loathing taking her to see this. I have to say right here and now, I WAS WRONG! I laughed through the entire movie! If this one isn't as good as the first one, I have to rent the first and see it! One of my favorite parts was at the end..."He croaked!"
By the way, did anyone else think the handsome Shrek was good looking? Kind of like a buffer Rob Lowe!:D

DH and I went today. I thought it was cute but not near as great as the first. We enoyed it and laughed a bit.

We mostly liked the Puss in Boots cat...it looks and acts just like our nutty kitty.

Saw it today, I give it a "thumbs up!"

Gotta love Puss in Boots and the hairballs and licking himself- every cat owner can relate!

jwfla422 & Brer_Papa--Thanks for the info and good thoughts. Also thanks for welcoming me. I will let you know how our trip goes. I know I am already starting to count down for our trip in 2006 as well. I am glad to know I am not the only one!
