What I can't stand is people who allow their kids to run around everywhere while "saving" these seats.

<snip>

People need to control their kids or get out!

It's not justified to have kids running, hitting people, pushing, stepping on others and their belongings and just throw your hands up and say well they're kids. Or to "not see it" cause you are talking on your phone.

:worship: :worship:

And for goodness sake, people, it's landscaping not a playground. Get your kids out of the flowers!!! And make them to leave the ducks alone too!

I have an 8 and 6 year old. I will most definitely save seats in a show line or at Fantasmic, etc. for them. They have autism and other disabilities and cannot sit for long periods of time without a break(and for a show, you're saying at least two hours-the show time and the waiting time). For those of you who think that we should then never have the opportunity to see a show together or enjoy a meal together, etc. Live our life for 24 hours and then check back again. It is incomprehensible to me that there are so many here that would waste so much energy arguing about this. That if we can't all wait for the full hour or whatever, we shouldn't go... and then on another thread say that if you want to see the parade, show etc. don't show up at the last minute, come early to save your spot. So I guess by that logic, families like ours shouldn't bother going to Disney-or for that matter anywhere- if we can't always look and act like a "normal" family... sigh.

Yesterday at Indiana Jones we were warning people in line that if the entire group was not together they would not be able to sit together. During seating for one show I was a "packer" and there were some people saving a seat. I told the other people in the row to move down, and to the people that were waiting for the rest of their group to show up I pointed to my nametag and said the rules are no seat saving, if you disagree you are welcome to report me to a coordinator or manager. The rest of the people moved over to fill in the space.

Later on when the show started I reported the incident to my Manager, who said not to worry about it.

Well there you go. You heard it from the mouth a CM. There are certainly rules around saving seats.

Ireland_Nicole, I don't think anyone's saying that you don't have a right to see shows because you don't act like a "normal" family. I certainly empathize with you. Like I said earlier, I am very familiar with accomodating special needs. But I don't think you have to save seats in order for your family to enjoy a show. I just wouldn't recommend showing up really early for a show. Come in when it is convienent for you and your family. Also, it has been recommended to us several times to speak to guest relations, they may be able to help accomodate you so that these issues don't arise.

I understand exactly where you are coming from. Save your seats and you and your children enjoy the show and Disney. I've learned a long time ago, unless someone walks a mile in my shoes, they have no right to judge. Usually that judgement will come back and bite them in the ***.:rolleyes1

One can only hope.

Not a very nice thing to be hoping for. Who's judging anyway? We're just stating our opinions. Far as I know, there's no harm in that.

Not very nice to judge other peoples children or parenting skills when you don't know what underlying problems exist.

Not very nice to say if your kids can't wait an hour before a show starts they shouldn't get to see it.

Not nice to say if a child gets up to use the bathroom, too bad.

You're welcome to your opinion, just as I am to mine.:confused3

That is truly sick.

What an awful thing to say/hope for.:sad2:

What I think is awful is people looking at special needs families like they shouldn't be in public.

I'm simply hoping that one day they'll be judged (as they did) for something out of their control. Not that their kids become autistic. Sheesh.

Well, don't you have an answer for everything.:thumbsup2

I am honestly just trying to be helpful. I really, really, really do feel for people who have special children in their lives 24/7. It is a definite blessing but I know that it's a huge responsibility too that can be quite difficult.

HLBLan, I don't think that most people on this thread are being judgemental. They are just answering the questions that the OP posed. I can speak for myself and reiterate that, for me, people saving seats typically doesn't bother me. I don't stand there and belittle them or think about it for more than like 2 seconds. I was just stating what I would or would not do with my party.

I think this is pretty off-topic. I don't see anyone saying that those with special needs shouldn't be in public. This understandably seems like a pretty emotional issue for you but don't be too quick to read into what's being said here.

And I was posting regarding special needs families, not every blessed person that saves seats.

FTR, we just don't go because we can't wait that long, but I've had the looks when my child loses it in public and it hurts.

What I don't understand is...

Isn't Disney World all about a great..relaxing family vacation. It seems that some people just go into a situation and look for a problem, or look for something negative (in their case, people "saving" seats). It's just a show and just a seat, you have no idea why someone might save a seat or two...

Enjoy your trip....and just move onto another seat.

Agreed. Most of us are very sympathetic to those who have health issues. I have an autistic nephew, a nephew with a skin condition that keeps him from being able to be in the sun, and a niece who is severely handicapped. I'm certainly not suggesting that someone with a handicap or limitation cannot enjoy an attraction or show. WDW is for all to enjoy. I don't think we're talking about those situations here.

HLBLan, I am truly sorry that people have been mean to you and your family. That is certainly ignorant and inexcusable behavioiur. However, I really don't think that the intention of the people on this thread was to call down people with special needs or disabilities.

Thank-you. It turned into more of a deal than I wanted. I was responding to the mother with the autistic and special needs children and talking about karma and then was told how sick I was. I felt I needed to explain myself.

I am of the "it's just a seat, move on." I know what I would or wouldn't do and that's ok.

It appears I misunderstood your "hope" comment. I apologize. :flower3:

I'd say this horse has been quite thoroughly beaten.... again.

Where's people for the ethical treatment of animals when you need 'em.

Disney's policy (no seat saving) has been stated.
