Showing up with extra people?

I made an ADR a LONG time ago for 'Ohana for 9 people. About 5 months ago 2 more people decided they were going to come on our trip with us. I have been trying (unsuccesfully) for this entire time to add them on to our reservation. As you know, when you call WDW to do this they try to book another table completely separate and then cancel the old one. This is not going to happen! Why can't they just add 2 people onto the table I already have?

I have already told them they will probably be on their own for this dinner since I cannot change this reservation. It's just not happening. I've even tried to just book a table for the 2 of them and can't do that either.

Anyway, if we were to just show up with 2 extra people, would they make room for them, or would we be turned away? Please no flaming, just wondering if this is totally forbidden or if anyone has had experience with it!

If you have been there before, you know that it's standing room only at the podium, and quite crowded inside, and booked solid all the time. The chances of them just "making room" are very slim, IMO.

The extra persons will be turned away if the restaurant is at capacity. Fire codes dictate that they cannot allow extra persons into a restaurant that is full to capacity. This is also the reason why you can't just add two more people to your reservation.

If it is not they might be able to fit them in, although there is a possibility that you will have to wait longer.

Sorry but the chances of them getting "added" on with you at the podium are slim to none at Ohana. (especially 2)

You are wise to tell them they are on their own for this meal. Have they said where else they would like to eat? If not I would push them for a preference so you can book that for them. Or are they planning to just do CS that night?

I would also prepare that if Ohana can get them in but you have to wait, be prepared to be told 2+ hours for that seating.
Is anyone in your party not able to do that? Like Children or older folks? If so you may want to not even try that and just explain to the add ons their option of waiting on their own or eating elsewhere.

Have a good trip!!

I see that the OP has a party of 9 that with the additional 2 will become a party of 11 (I think that was the deal) - have you contacted group dining to see about a party of 11? I don't see it happening this late though. OP's ticker says they leave in 5 days.

It is not "forbidden", just not very likely to have good results. You can try showing up with extra people, and ask if they can be seated, but you need to be prepared to hear "No".

Have you thought about making the 2 extra people an ADR for the Kona Cafe? They you would just be dining right across the walkway from each other. Or they could get quick service from Captain Cooks and hang out on the beach for a while.

i've never been to that restaurant BUT last October I had a reservation for my mom, myself, and my 5 year old at Cinderella's Royal Table. Last minute some good family friends decided to join us, a friend of my moms and her three girls (11, 9, and 5). I tried and tried to change the reservation to fit all the girls in, but had no luck. We ended up having me take the two little girls, since they would appreciate it the most, and my mom and her friend took the two older girls around the park. The ended up seating me and the two little girls at a table made for at LEAST 6 people. I told the waiter what had happened and he said I absolutely should have brought everyone that they definitely would have had room. I didn't even think to ask right before they seated us!

I think it couldnt hurt to try, as long as your two friends know that there's a good chance it might not happen. But who knows, maybe you'll get a little extra disney magic and they will squeeze in the extra two seats!
