Will that be a problem? My MIL is joining us on our trip, but two of my reservations she would like to opt out of and I'm a bit concerned. If we show up at Akershus or Chef Mickey's with only 5 people instead of 6, will we have a problem being seated? Also, will be be charged anything for her being a "no-show" ?

I don't think you'll have a problem with being seated, but I'm not sure that you won't be charged. If you know for sure that she won't be going to these, I would call and let them know.

But won't we lose our table? We will be there April 10-18, and I've tried and cannot get reservations for only 5 people for these meals.

I don't know if my recent experience will help...somewhat related

I recently saw a cancellation for a restaurant we had reservations for for a time that was more convenient then our current reservation time. I called Disney Dining and asked if I could change my reservation time (8:05 party of 3) to the more convenient time (5:40 party of 4) that I saw online. She asked if I was actually adding a 4th person, I said no but explained the reservation only comes up online when I request 4 people and it doesn't come up if I request for 3 people. (Strange...wouldn't 3 people be seated at a table for 4???) I was told that I could not make a reservation for 4 then show up with 3 people and she could only change my reservation to a party of 3. Clearly I disagreed so I hung up and tried to book the "party of 4" I saw online, but it was gone. So frustrating to be honest and told I couldn't have the reservation when people clearly do it all the time. :( Not sure what to suggest for you. Sorry!

You will be fine. I had a link, but cant seem to find it now, to Disneys website regarding this policy. According to Disneys policy, as long as you show up there will be NO charge if one of the people dont show. It was listed in the FAQ, if you want to search it down. I would not call for fear that they would cancel and try to rebook (and then you loose it), just tell them when you check-in. Its not like you are using an extra table that someone else could book by calling ahead of time.

I believe you can call them and tell them you are changing from a party of 6 to a party of 5.

I had to do this in May for one of my trips. We were 4, and would only be 3 for one meal. I called them and nothing changed, they just changed the # of people in my party.

I was also able to change another another meal from a party of 3 to a party of 7 without much of a change in time.

Good luck!! :thumbsup2

As long as some I'm your party honor the reservation, you will not be charged the fee.

You will not lose your table.
You will not be charged a no-show fee if one person doesn't show up. You're only charged that if the whole party doesn't show up.
You will not have a problem with Akershus and Chef Mickey's. The only places that might be a problem would be the prepaid restaurants (CRT or the dinner shows).

Wonderful. Thanks!

I'm actually looking forward to a bit of MIL-free time, but it's nice to know we won't be charged for it. ;) :rolleyes1
