It will be me and DF's first time at Disney and in Florida (in fact will be DF's first time abroad and in a plane - so hope he likes it).

1. I've heard that you need to carry ID all the time, is this correct? We are both 29 but neither of us drink (him by choice , me because I'll be driving :sad2:) so will we really need to have our ID? I don't really like the idea of carrying our passports with us all the time.

2. Travellers cheques. Is it right that you can just spend them like cash? If so, is this just anywhere? Also see above question - will we need to show our ID to cash them? (never had them before but assume a name will be on them).

Thanks

You can use your driving licence as ID. Alternatively photocopy your passport and use that.

The majority of shops/restaurants accept travellers cheques like money but some may ask for ID so you will need to show them either your driving licence or passport.

I think the only place that wouldn't accept TC's were the small carts selling food/drink and gifts in the parks.

If you plan on visiting any of the Disney hotels for a look around or something to eat and you are not staying there, you will need ID to enter the car park and get a parking pass for a couple of hours.

Hi Paula WBA thought you were from the west mids with a name like that DH is a WBA fan good result on sunday!!!!!!!!

1, never needed ID at all, never hired a car so have never taken my driving licence, have been to WDW 4 times and a lot of other American places, and I still have never been asked for I.D, not even in Vegas Casinos!

2, true, just, to repeat previous posters small places won't accept large cheques and you certainly may need to use i.d. when using travellers cheques

I have been asked for id when using my credit card more than TC's! Also best to have id as if you want to go into any clubs with an age limit of over 21.

Claire ;)

As has been said, you can use your photo driving licence for ID when cashing the larger denomination travellers cheques.
Don't forget to get a mixture of sizes of TC's as later on at night stores don't keep so much change and will refuse over $50 TC's

But as I am Leeds fan, I have to say, you may need to show ID to convince people that as a Baggies fan you have not escaped from a mental institution! :happytv: :happytv:

I would recommend you carry your driving licence in case you want to go to any 'Over 21' places.

I still get asked for ID when I go to America and I am 35! :confused3

I've been asked for photo ID when paying by credit card before now - its always best to carry something!

But as I am Leeds fan

WOW there is still someone else, I thought I was their last supporter:rotfl: Not many will admit supporting them these days. Hope we stay up, bad enough in this division.

We hardly ever get asked to show ID, we carry our driving licence card around if we need it. I can spend $100's of Dollars on Credit card no ID needed, spend $2 on an Ice cream and they want ID. you just never know. Last August we were asked once in 25 nights and that was for a $6.50 pin. Xmas never asked for it once in 11 nights.

DW prays for the day they ask her for ID at a bar. It will never happen:lmao:

:rotfl2: me too! in fact Adi, my locals landlord knows I won't buy a drink unless he asks me for i.d. :rotfl:

I was 32 when i first went to Orlando and got asked a few times for ID. Since turning 40 I havent been asked but once when me and a friend went to Pleasure Island (I was 38 he was 45) and we both got asked! he even has a beard!
The strangest one I ever saw was in Chicago airport where a guy who was in a bar aged about 70 left for a few minutes and then came back for another drink, the bar man asked him for ID! he replied "well im 5 minutes older than last time you looked"
Bottom line is as others have said, some places ask for ID not just for age but also credit cards, clubs or places over 21, and you might get asked if you buy tobacco (cigs etc)
