There has been much discussion lately on the boards about grumpy cast members and people not being very "Disney-like" in WDW. So, I wanted to post to let you know that our experience last week (12/27 - 1/3) was the most magical we've ever had (in many, many trips to the "world"). Every cast member we came in contact with was on his or her best behavior. Each was smiling and presenting his or her best show. We went on the Jungle Cruise twice, and my DS (age 8) said, "The motto for this ride should be, 'A different laugh every time.'" You should know that the CM who was our guide was the same both times, but her shows were completely different and equally funny! CM's at all the rides (right down to the TeaCups) were full of energy and seemed genuinely happy to be there. When we arrived at MK for Early Entry (Extra-Magic Hour???) at 6:25 a.m. on 12/28 AND 1/1, the CM's were there and making every effort to be happy about it. (I'll try to remember that when I show up for work tomorrow at 8:00!) On 12/28, one of these sleepy but happy CM's even invited my DS to open the MK.
And the crowds? They were definitely what they had been advertised to be. But, using the tips we've learned over the years (use early entry -- at least for MK -- be there at park opening at a non-early entry park, etc.), we went on every ride we wanted to go on waiting no more than 15 minutes for anything. (When we did wait 30 minutes, it was because we went into a park later in the day knowing we would be waiting and expecting it.)
The people? Well, let's see, my DS discovered Rock N Roller Coaster this time. He loved it. We got on right after park opening using FastPass. When we went back later in the day "just to check" on the wait, we found that it would be 75 minutes. Bless his heart, he said, "I want to wait." So we were about to get in line when a woman walked up and said, "Would you like these two FastPasses? They are for right now." Pixie Dust.... This happened on Haunted Mansion later in the week also. On another occasion, a lovely family from Franklin, Tennessee invited DS and me to join them at a table they had staked out to watch Wishes. (We had arrived late and were looking for a little corner from which to watch.) We talked and watched and went away feeling like we had made some new friends. Once again, lovely little sprinkles of Pixie Dust.
I know I've left out some of the wonderful things that happened to us. Some of our brushes with "pixie dust" happened at the resorts, so I have (or will) posted about them on the resorts or DVC board, but I wanted to share our experiences. They were so wonderful. If you're going down to WDW anytime soon, make sure to pass a little magic on for us!
