I bought a wedding shower gift for someone I am very close to. It has a $10 rebate that I didn't know about until I paid at the register at kohls.

Should I send the rebate in? And send it in the bride's name?

how do you handle this?

the rbate has to be completed before the shower date in two weeks.:confused3

I don't have advice except to say that I was a gift recipient of dishes that my Mom bought and she sent in the rebate(for herself) which involved cutting off the UPC code. One of the dishes had a noticeable flaw and some were warped. I would have returned them really, but I couldn't because of no UPC. Before people ask, I did call the manufacturer and they basically told me "tough luck".

So personally, I wouldn't give a gift with the UPC removed no matter who collects on the rebate. Perhaps you could gift the item early?

If you have to cut the UPC off, I say just let it go. If there's something wrong w/ it, she won't be able to return or exchange.

I would give her the receipt, the rebate form and whatever other information she needs to send the rebate in herself. OR I would just forget about it.

I'd say forget the rebate. I got two things this am at Kohls and was about to cut the UPCs off, I guess I should make sure they work first, I never thought about not being able to return it if it's defective. I wanted to get the coffee grinder because it was so cheap...15% off $22.99 then a $10 rebate and I had $10 Kohl's cash from the last time. AND since it was Kohl's cash time again, I got the waffle maker for the same price and some $1.99 flip flops to get to $50.00.

UPDATE:

I just called my Kohl's and they said no problem. They said they have a super - easy return policy and will take it back without a upc. He said to keep a copy of the upc and rebate and there would be no problem.

The bride to be doesn't have much at all so I'm sure she will appreciate the rebate coming to her address.

I would put an envie in the box with the copy of the UPC and the form you filled out and let her know that the rebate is coming.

I like that idea! What a great one - thanks! I never encountered this siutaion before and since she is on such a limited budget, I know she'll appreciate getting the rebate as well as the gift.:thumbsup2
