Showbiz Mom and Dads on Bravo last night...

I taped last night's but saw it last week. Really interesting! What got me was the pageant mom when the little girl needed to go to the bathroom at the contest. Who can get up onstage and sing when they've got to pee???

another thing about last nights show.

when Emily (pageant girl) won second place or whatever...they showed a shot of her standing there with
her crown on
her cape on
roses in one hand
a wad of cash splayed out in the other hand.

Um...anyone else find this picture horribly disturbing? I'm very anti-pageant to begin with...and I dont' care WHO tells me this "boosts their self esteem"...I'd much rather see girls that age jumping around, getting dirty, having fun being a kid...rather than walking around with a fake smile/tan/hair all so she can grip a wad of cash.

Do people actually think spraying a tan on a little girl, setting her hair in curlers constantly, dressing her in clothes that she can't have fun while wearing ("can I change yet mommy?"), making her prance around in a bathing suit in front of a crowd, screaming "Pagent smile!" when she shows any other emotions, teaching her that if you are pretty you will win, etc. boosts self esteem in young girls?!?!?!!?!?!

Never in a million years....

And yes, it is very disturbing to see a 4y/o hold up a fistful of $20's on a stage.

Yuck!

I thought it was even more disturbing to see mom dressed up in Emily's crown & cape acting like Miss America.
