Nope, other side of the state, south of Seattle. I think for the most part the Pacific Northwest has all sorts of houses, not much brick though.

I love your house, I can totally picture large family Thanksgiving dinners there!

Thanks :)

Thats the plan. Im trying to convince Dbrother who lives in your neck of the woods, Falls City, that he need sto move here now too. Mum is going to move here in the Spring, God Willing.

Would sure be nice to have everyone close by!

Sometimes it is... and sometimes not so much, LOL. I'm currently going through a "wish I lived 1,000 miles away from these people" phase, I'm sure around the holidays I'll be grateful though. Best wishes that your dreams will come true! :sunny:

Here is my humble townhome in Staten Island, New York.

For all you folks who have never been to New York, note how we don't have much land out here, I'll try to post a better picture soon. I've been here for 13 years and bought it new. As most of you probably know the real estate prices in New York are not based on reality. 13 years ago, at the low end of the market I bought this house for $134,900. Last month my neighbor just sold hers for $425,000.

We're closing on our new house next week!

It's not quite finished yet, put here's some pics of it so far.

Here's mine, built in '69 and so not what I was looking for when I started house shopping. Ironically it fits my life great though. ;) I'm slowly renovating the different rooms. There's a lot I want to do to it, but just going slow. What really sold me are the trees in both front & back which are hard to find these days around here.

here's ours...4 bedroom cape style built in 1947

almost 1600 sq ft, paid $148,000 in 1996
similar houses in my area are selling for $335,000 these days
we are just south of Boston

I love the trees and the winding walkway. It is like your own private park!

OT, but I love the costume for your pooch, too cute.

Wow, great job! It's the little things that make all the difference isn't it?

Here are a few pics of my house. They were taken last winter, so the grass is not green and the trees don't have their leaves. I need to take some new ones.

You guys have some great homes!

Here's a side shot of our new house. It's on Long Island, NY. We just moved in a couple of weeks ago. It used to be a brick ranch, but they bumped out the garage to make the living room bigger and built up, so that now it's a colonial. I love that it's such a hodge-podge of parts and rooms.

thank you! We spent a lot of time (and $$!!) redoing the front of the property. The old retaining wall was just crumbling and the landscaping was atrocious! Now if we only had an extra several thousand laying around...we'd redo the blue siding too...

Love your house too...I have always wanted a front porch like that

Ginamarie that is a beautiful home. My sister-in-law lives in Comack, Long Island. How are your property taxes? Hers are pretty high. But I guess you get what you pay for. You look like you have a nice amount of property.

Here is mine. Yes, it is pink. We bought it last year, and it was just perfect except for the pink color. I said the first thing that I was going to do was have it painted. But now...it has kind of grown on me. I am NOT a pink person, but somehow I like it. Maybe one day we'll paint it a respectable neutral color.

Oh...and here is the pic that was used in the listing online. I think they played around with the color so that potential buyers would not know that it was pink!

I like it! Yes, it is pink, but I don't think in an obnoxious way. I've seen pink houses - real pink houses - and I don't think I'd describe your house as a "pink" house. I think it is more mauve, or brick colored.

And neutral is overrated in my opinon. Who needs neutral. :thumbsup2

This is definitely not what John Cougar Mellencamp was thinking about when he wrote the song Little Pink Houses.

I think we have to change the title to Huge Pink Mansions. LOL.

Very nice, Pink or any other color for that matter.

:rotfl: I'm laughing, because our first home was a pink house! The builder called it "coral stucco" (even though it was siding and definately more pink than coral) and based of Florida homes. We lived in Ohio....We got a deal on it, for sure. We always thought we would change it, but then I realized:

We don't have to look at it! We're on the inside! :rotfl2:

We did end up re-siding when we decided to build a new home. Had it up for -sale 3 months, decided to re-side, and then sold it 10 days later!

Then after years of excusing ourselves for the color of our home, the neighbors complained they couldn't give directions like "we're two doors down from the pink house" :teeth:

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I love looking at houses.

That's exactly what my neighbors said when I mentioned that I wanted to change the color. They love using my house as a landmark!

Hey, neat thread! Now what'd be interesting to see is how much house you get for the cost in each location.

Old House:
116467homefront-med.jpg

This was our first house, bought in 1999 for 67,900. Located in a small town with everything within walking distance, sidewalks, street lamps - a real front porch community. Lots of older residents. Good school district. House about 80+ years old. We did a lot of work on it. Built right on top of a Jeep dealership to the left, and about 8ft. from the neighbors on the right. Small back yard and detached garage. Sold for 75,000 in 2005 by us in just 3 days!

New House:
116467Picture_005-med.jpg

This picture was taken about 2 months after we closed on it. We had it built in 2005. DHs "dream" house. I think it lacks a certain charm of the older homes, but... 245K in a newer neighborhood with sidewalks & streetlights. Tons of kids! Drive to everywhere. Our lawn looks much better now and I usually have more decoration of some sort out. I am a porch person, so I use the swing constantly!

Here is my house. We live outside of Harrisburg, Pa on about 3 acres with 4 bed and 2.5 baths. We got a great deal on the house at an auction since the previous owners left it to rot. We totally gutted the inside and started from scratch. I am only going to show what is completed so far in 2 years!
