I wasn't sure if we had a thread started yet for posting this years fireworks. If so I can delete this one. Thanks to all of you for all of the great advice, tips, & tricks! I will try to post some real soon. I would love to see your firework photo's. I won't get to disney untill October, but I have some to share from my local firework displays.

I was lucky to watch 3 different displays this year. Here are a few of my favorites from the 1st display! This was my first year with my dslr, so I was quite nervous. I think all the advice from my dear friends on the DIS paid off. I used a 0.9 nd filter.

Nice shots. Don't forget the ISO with the exposure information. It's all very helpful info for those trying to learn how to capture fireworks.

Thanks! Like I said, I was so nervous this being my first year with my dslr. I got my nd filter & remote shutter release just a day or 2 before the fireworks. Everything I learned about how to take firework photo's I learned right here from all of you. This was my first hands on experience, & I was pleasently surprised with the results. Once I got the basics down, it really wasn't hard at all.

This year we decided to head out to my brother-in-law's house and let the kids get in touch with their inner pyromaniac. Being a random show with things flying in every direction I opted to shoot the kids lighitng things and not the actual fireworks in the air.

This is the first year Hyper Boy got to light something. I went for exposing him which meant letting the fuse get blown out. ISO 6400 f/1.8 1/60

I'm so excited to have something to contribute to this year's fireworks thread!

I found a new spot to shoot from and I've been waiting months to try it out! Turns out it's about the most perfect spot there is - with the exception of the million spiders we had to battle for territory all night (seriously, they were on my head, hands, camera, everywhere!! ) But it was worth it to get shots like this, and we will definitely go back next year!

ISO 100, F11, Bulb mode with a cable release - 2-4 seconds as a general rule, but I did go for longer exposures whenever possible to properly expose the lift bridge. I practiced with just the bridge before the show started and knew it needed at least a 15-second exposure to really get the bridge to show up, so I thought I was going to be out of luck... but then I realized there were enough pauses that I could just keep it open during the lulls and get (most of) the exposure I needed.

Those are some unbelievably awesome shots

I was lucky enough to skate on a frozen Lake Superior sorta around the area where you took those pictures back in 07. Have a buddy who is from there and was such a surreal experience for me coming from Florida lol
