I laminated all of my designs and bought the magnet strips and put them on the back, worked great. I ordered the FE from stitchesnbows on etsy, it came out better then I had expected and the price was very reasonable.

Ok..so we are starting to plan our first cruise for November 2011 for DS's 14th b-day.
Been lurking on the board and loving all the door decoration but can't seem to find out what the FE's are used for. They look great but do they have more of a purpose other than decoration??

Hi ... wanted to know where you got the art/file to print out the magnets that looks like the cast members tags.. <3 them.. sailing on the 31st.. CAN NOT wait

:welcome: :disrocks:

Here is Tom's thread. He will PM them to you. Be sure to tell him your cruise date so he can get it to you in time. Mine took a long time but I told him to take his time since my cruise was far away.

Happy planning!

That's what we've done. I've printed it out on regular cardstock, then used clear contact paper to laminate, and then used business card magnets (kinda like a sticker where you just peel off the backing). It's worked well for us. And it is addicting, so anything to keep the cost down.
Here they are on the magic:

But here's a closer up of it on the back of our front door:

Aww! You renewed your vows on my birthday!!!!

Here's my "under the sea" inspired door magnets. I used a lot of scrapbook materials and self-laminating sheets.

This was our first cruise and we didn't make any magnets but received some very nice ones from the FE exchange from talented fellow DISers :goodvibes

I got my beautiful FE at ETSY.com from a the seller StitchesNBows :lovestruc

Magnet questions....I don't have a printer and hate to impose on my family member that does to print out a bunch of these for me (there are so many I like). So, what is the best option here?

Do I order prints from Wal-Mart ( 8 x 10s are 2.59/ea) and then buy some kind of rolled magnet paper, set them on there, peel, stick and cut?

Do I order prints, buy a laminating machine, laminate and just put little pieces of magnet on the back?

Do I have them print (not on magnet paper, which is $$ and I will buy for whoever prints) on cardstock, put on clear contact paper and then cut out? I'm not sure what clear contact paper is--is it found at Wal-Mart and how does it stay on?

Are 8x10s the necessary size? That just seems so big for, like, the Mickey ear templates and some of those things.

Sorry to be a bother--just trying to figure out the best way for someone with no printer, in a rural area with few resources, short notice (December cruise) and on a budget!

Yes, I printed mine at home on white cardstock and cut them out. (if you don't have a printer, going to kinko's or staples for a color sheet is usually cheaper than printing at a photo processing place, including walmart for an 8x10) I bought my contact paper at walmart. It is found usually where the household rubbermaid section area. I think people usually use it to line their kitchen shelves. I cut two pieces, removed one of the backings and put my image face down because it is easier to not get bubbles and wrinkles that way on the front. Then I remove the backing off the other sheet and stick them together. Then trim off the edges and put magnets on the back.

I have a zyron, but didn't want to waste the laminating on this. To me the contact paper route is definitely cheaper but a little more work than laminator. The contact paper has a matte feel to it, while the laminator is shiny if that makes a difference .

Good luck!

Here's a pic of my door & my FE... I will saw, having a room right by the elevator sets up your magnets to "walk" a lot. Every morning, they were on a door about 3 or 4 down from us... But, we still had fun with it, and moved them back every morning.

Did you make the "Wonder do you" with the bunny licence plate or did you get it?

Sorry to hear about your walking magnets :sad2: but glad they didn't go to far...

OK, now with 2 people asking, I feel I really should share. Does anyone know its origin? I know artists prefer when people ask permission first. :guilty:

I have the same image, the designer was rumblytumbly. She is taking a break from designing.:)

Here is a link to the DCL Addict, along with Mickey, Eeyore, Goofy and Stitch. KristineN designed Goofy and Stitch.

Post 3346 and 3348. Also post 3356 has the DCL ears.

I had jordak do the plate for me, and I made it... Sad thing is, I made one for each of you guys to add to the FE and forgot to pack them in my bags to take with me. Ugh! I'll email the plate to you if you want it.
