Show Me: Your 2008 Holiday Photos

What settings did you use for the close up of the ornaments? I really like them, and mine have not been turning out as well.

This little angel has been at the top of our trees my whole life. She was purchased 54 years ago by my mom and dad for their first Christmas. After my dad passed away my mom gave her to me and she is at the top of my tree every year. She is starting to show her age but still beautiful to me :)

Hi there, I used my 50mm f/1.8 and manually focused for all of them, however there were two groups of shots, with two different sets of settings. All were taken in aperture priority mode. One set were taken with the table lamp off at ISO 800, f/1.8. The other set were taken with the lamp on at ISO 400, f/1.8. The shutter speeds varies from 1/5 to 1/10.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

spinetnglr- What a beautiful story and angel!

annnewjerz- thanks, I have that lens, I'll give it a try.

One more question, about how close or far away were you from the ornaments?

For the most part, as close as I could get while still getting it in proper focus (or as close to it as possible). I would say about a foot away (???) from the ornament, but some were taken further away (the ones at the top of the tree that's 8 feet tall).

It's wonderful that you still keep her and use her. She looks lovely on your tree! :goodvibes

Thank you both. My mom now lives with me (since 2005) so I always make sure she is on the tree. I know for me and mom too Christmas wouldnt be Christmas without that little angel watching us. I am going to attempt a picture of the entire tree later tonight and will post it if it turns out ok. I was trying to get a picture of my boy last night and wasnt very successful. I need to get some better lights in the room so I can boost my shutter speed. He wasnt really anxious to sit still. That along with the fact that he hates when the groomer puts a bow on him.

I just realized after that post, why my pics don't look right, I forgot to change to Tungsten WB. They are whiter now.

Your daughter is adorable NLD. If you get to Florida, you have to let me shoot her pictures.
