I shot it with the 180/2.8 (from the far end of the hallway) and kept them about 4' from the tree to try to get it nicely out of focus. I did add some gaussian blur in the corners but thats about it.

One of my favorite Christmas activities is to visit the Connecticut Governor's Residence during her annual open house with the Resident Artists of Connecticut Opera. {some of my fellow Dis'er know that I am the Dir. of Development for CT Opera}
Here are some photos from last week's visit.
And here are the Resident Artsist for this season...
Not the best but a decent one of my DS with Santa. Now if I could get him to look at the camera. I'm still learning my new camera but I'm happy with this one as my computer background currently.
Thanks! We love to spend time in the Outer Banks, here in NC. Those are our pictures of various visits to Ocracoke, Hatteras & Bodie. We have plans to go back and get better shots, but were happy with how it came out for now.
I've only had my DSLR for a couple of months and have lots to learn, so my pics aren't the greatest. But here are some I liked, from a recent trip to Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. Phipps must be a popular place, because Amy posted a few from there too.
The first 2 are amaryllis (sp?) flowers.
Took this one with my P&S (Pany TZ5)
And a self-portrait...I'm reflected in the silver bulb.
And here are some pictures. First, two different exposures of the tree. The first one I was trying to get starbursts on the lights, the second one...wasn't trying for anything particular but I really like the look of it.
And here are a few close up shots of some ornaments on the tree. I collect Waterford ornaments.
