Show Me the Cupcakes!!!

I don't have a picture but my family stayed at the WL during my son's fall break two weeks ago and Roaring Forks had an amazingly good chocolate caramel cupcake. It was an oversized chocolate cupcake with a mushroom shaped core of thick, delicious caramel covered by chocolate butter cream frosting. I got the last one on the day we tried it and it was awesome!!! :cloud9:

Still going through, and drooling over this thread! Wondering if there are any special seasonal Christmas cupcakes, perhaps egg nog, chocolate peppermint, gingerbread? We arrive on Christmas day and for the past 3 trips we still haven't tried any cupcakes. Oh the humanity!!!

There are cupcakes at the Boardwalk Bakery. There are cupcakes at some of the Disney hotels. If you scroll through this thread, I believe people have mentioned cupcakes at the Beach Club, Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. I can't remember if other hotels have been mentioned also. There are cupcakes at Downtown Disney.

Curse this thread for giving me a cupcake craving that led to Gigi's Cupcakes and the delicious:

1) Miss Princess Cupcake
2) Wedding Cake Cupcake
3) Texas Milk Chocolate Cupcake
4) Banana Cream Pie Cupcake

Thankfully I have a husband to share them with. We're on day three. Saved #3 for last. :lovestruc

Gigi's Little Miss Princess and Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes are two of my favorite cupcakes ever. I also love White Midnight Magic. I am on a restrictive diet for health reasons and can't eat sugar, and I dream of these. Hope you enjoy every bite!

OMG these are making me want a cupcake so bad. I feel a trip to gigi's for either a birthday surprise, a champayne or a coconut snowball if they are making them that day just to tie me over til next Friday we I get to wdw.

At one point we were discussing how difficult it is to transport the larger cupcakes when you get them "to go." Well here is how 2 ended up from Starring Rolls - they were intact when we put them in the boxes (had to be laid on their sides)....they were in bits & pieces & smooshed til we got back to the resort

We tried the S'mores and Oreo cupcakes from the Boardwalk Bakery today. Both had really yummy cream, but the cake part itself was dry/stale-ish on both. The big problem is that they refrigerate the cupcakes because of the cream. Refrigerating cake will dry it out. It's a bit of a no-win situation.

When I got 2 cupcakes to go (a Butterfinger one and a white chocolate one) in July 2010, they put each one into a clear plastic takeout container...the kind with the lid that flips open. Both were intact when we got back to the room at BWV. Do they not use these containers anymore?

We're looking forward to bringing some cupcakes back to the room again from Starring Rolls, but it would be nice if they stay intact...if not oh well...they still will taste awesome! :thumbsup2

This was my 3rd trip in 2011 & I got cupcakes to go at SR all 3 times - and all 3 were in the cardboard containers...maybe they ran out of the nicer plastic ones every time! I'll ask next time.

So - we are all obviously cupcake obsessed. My DH just doesn't get it. He's like, "Why not just have cake? Why a CUPcake?"

I had an answer for him, but I was curious what you guys would say. Is it the ratio of icing to cake? Is it like having your own personal cake that you don't have to share with anyone?

What's the appeal to you? :)

For me I think it is the cake to frosting ratio because frosting is my favorite part of cake.

Also if anyone needs cupcake holders to take with them they have them at bed bath and beyond for 2.99 in pink and blue.

The last couple times we've gotten them I don't remember if they were the clear plastic or the cardboard, but whatever container it was the cupcakes didn't stand up in them (the icing is too tall) - they had to be laid on their side and kind of became the mess that the PP posted a picture of.
