Let's see your best efforts to capture those difficult shots taken without flash in the darker rides and shows. And please take a minute to post the EXIF data and/or describe your process so the rest of us that struggle with this. ;)

I'll start- Here is one from the Jungle Cruise after dark. This was taken with my D50 w/ the 50/1.8 for 1/25 second exposure. ISO 1600. Shot in RAW then set WB to Tungsten, mild noise reduction, and adjusted levels.

This is from the Little Mermaid show at MGM. It was taken with a Canon 1DM2 with a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens at 200mm. Av mode, 1/60 second, f/2.8, ISO 1600. Show in RAW using auto WB. IS mode 1. Evaluative metering (should have used spot and metered off of her face). Exposure correction. A bit of noise reduction and sharpening.

Great photo, but my hair hurts trying to read and understand all of that!!!:rotfl:

The simplified version: spent gobs of money on a big heavy camera and lens, lugged them to the Little Mermaid show, pressed some buttons, turned some dials, forgot to press one more button, pointed, and shot. Then I loaded the picture in the computer, pressed the button I forgot to press earlier, cleaned it up a bit, and posted it.

Yep, that's it in a nutshell! ;) Since big heavy cameras have come down in price you can now get similar results for only 1/2 gobs of money but it still isn't easy or cheap.

Here is one from Spaceship Earth:

Great Movie Ride ISO 1100 f3.5 1/15. I would have preferred to use my 50mm lens on this ride, but used the 18-200 since I was afraid the 50 mm would not have been wide enough. This photo was taken at 18mm.

Tower of Terror ISO 1600 f4.2 1/25. VR really helps, but at 4.2, really had to up the ISO.

Fantasmic!

These photos are awesome, esp. the ones of Fantasmic! :thumbsup2 Do I dare hope to get any shots remotely close with my Canon S3 IS???

The stuff he was using is a step or two higher grade than the S3 is. While I have no doubt that you'll get some good pics, what he was using excels at low light situations.

At least you can rest easy that your kit is a lot easier to carry around. :lmao:

I have to agree, awesome pics. I have to assume you meant 70-200, I couldn't imagine what a 7-200 f/2.8 IS Canon lens would cost.

Here are a couple from POTC-

These are all with my "point & shoot" type digi-cam. With my "good camera" (Canon Rebel) I still use film. I have not had the blessing of upgrading my digital camera yet. I'd also like to point out that these were taken with the auto setting as I am still learning when it comes to dark/night shots. So, with that said here are a couple of my "auto setting-try to keep a steady hand" photos inside The Great Movie Ride.;) Some are better than others.

Here's a couple Spectro shots... always a challenging subject.

The lens was the Pentax 50mm F1.4. ISO for both is 1600. The first photo was shot in Aperture Priority, F1.7, 1/500th second. The second was shutter priority, 1/90th second, F1.4, +1.50 exposure compensation (without the EC, you wouldn't catch the details of the costume, just the lights.) Metering was "multi-segment" according to the exif, which I believe means that it was the default entire-frame metering.

I didn't really try many dark ride on-ride photos, but here's a couple from Snow White's Scary Adventures. Pentax 50mm F1.4 again, Program mode (I think the ride stopped so I shot these without preparing), spot metering, ISO 1600. The first is 1/60th at F2.0, the second is 1/125th at F2.0.

Here's one that I kind of like, it's something you rarely see photographed and while the results weren't stellar, I think they're not too bad. The Space Mountain queue!

2007WDW-576.jpg

This was with my Zenitar 16mm fisheye, which means full manual mode, ISO 1600, shutter of 1/6th of a second (I wish I had the IS of the K100D or K10D), spot metering. The aperture isn't recorded with this lens but I'm assuming that I had it set to the max (F2.8) or very close.

Next trip, I plan to attack some more dark rides with the 50mm F1.4 or perhaps a wider F1.8 lens.

Here are my S3 shots. Camera set on P mode, 800 ISO, and I let her rip:rotfl2: !!! I really do need to experiment with more settings:rolleyes1 . Oh, and then I ran the pics through my noiseware program;) . Sorry they are not Disney related, they are from our Freedom of the Seas cruise last month.

Buzz Lightyear. ISO 1600, f/2.8, 1/40s, 35mm. I did some exposure correction on Buzz's face, which was much brighter than his body.

Great shots everyone!! And you're right - my load will be a lot lighter since I'll only be totin' my little S2IS!!!:rotfl: The shot from the Tiki room gives me hope, that I may be able to get a few that are usable for the old scrapbook!! Keep the inspiration coming!! A gals gotta dream about that mega camera outfit right!!:goodvibes

Those of you showing an ISO of 1600 - you ARE running the photos thru Noiseware, aren't you? Or are you going to tell me that when you use a dSLR and shoot at ISO 1600 you don't get noise? Those photos are perfect!
