My wife & I will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Seaworld hotel, which they say is only a block from Seaworld and .5 miles from Discovery Cove. Some reviews I've read say that's not the correct distance and others say it is. Are those two attractions really within walking distance, or will we need transportation?

I know i am not going to be much help, but i wouldnt walk there and back. The only reason i am saying that is because you will be a lot of walking in the parks...

I was just there in August and that was one of the hotels that seemed walkable to Seaworld, but that's just my opinion. Now I would ride to Discovery Cove because the parking is free there anyway. You can get a weekly parking pass to SW though a lot cheaper then paying the daily amount.

If it's only your wife and you, then you can walk from the HGI to SWF. For DC, drive your car over, it's free parking. They do have a shuttle that will take you from SWF to DC and back, it's a phone you call from the north end of the SWF parking lot. Maybe you could drive over to DC each morning, flash your badge, and have them take you over to SWF for free.

You should still walk to SWF one time and check out the Renaissance Resort. That hotel has good rates during the holidays because it's really a business hotel. For example, if you book it July 4th weekend, you get a great rate.

Personally I say drive to the park from any of the hotels-even the Rennaissance! LOL But if I wanted to walk the Rennaissance would be my only choice to walk from. We spend a lot of time at Sea World. You do a lot of walking in the park so when the day is done and you leave the park, I for one do not want to have to walk any farther than we have to. If it is a really hot day, the walk home would be horrible.

The distance most businesses give to a park are probably calculated from the end of the park property. They don't take in to account the distance from there to where you actually walk through the gate to the park. Trying to remember where the Hilton is actually located and thinking it is at the first stoplight on International Drive after you get of the 528(Beach Line) . It would be a long walk from there to the park entrance(trek through the parking lot as far as the walk along the road) . Not sure if there is even a sidewalk along International Drive.
