Should we use a travel agent?

I have posted on other boards that we are doing the 7-night Land & Sea Vacation for our honeymoon. Well, I was just wondering if I should use a travel agent or if the same deals apply from Disney as they do from what the Agent is advertising on their site.

This Travel Agency isn't local, it is one I found online while searching for the Disney Cruise. However, they are offering the following:

* a 5% rebate if booked before October 31st, 2004.

* and a $50 ship credit.

Also, if you check pricing/availability on Disney Cruiseline's website, and then book with them, they will give an additional 5% off regular rates.

And would they be able to do this cheaper than Disney would, or should we just book through Disney to ensure that everything is done properly?

Thanks!!! I'll post their price quote when I get it.

I'm doing the land/sea this May and am so excited!! I knew before I could book my Intimate Add-on I needed to show I was staying at Disney for a certain amount of days and booked through Dreams Unlimited and they were a little cheaper than DCL, but I have been hearing CostCo is far cheaper than anyone else. As long as you go with a reputable company that others on the DIS have recommended you should have no problems and save some money!

I took a seven day land and sea trip in July 2003 and went through AAA. They were very helpful in organizing everything for us. There was a slight price differece I believe but I don't know how much of one.

There are several benefits to a Travel Agent. Not the least of which is that your vacation is guaranteed. So if something unforseen happens (like a hurricane wiping the park off the map), you get your money back.

They also have access to deals that you won't.

If it's DREAMS UNLIMITED whom of which is a BIG part of this site, then I say go for it. I used them in 2001 and will be using them again for my trip in 2006.

My agent is super and always on top of things and responds to emails within hours, sometimes minutes depending on the time.

Have fun planning!

The Travel Ageny wasn't DREAMS UNLIMITED, but I did check with them after I read you post, and the price from them was $300 less than on Disney's site, and $100 less than the other place..

So I think that we are going to go with Dreams Unlimited. Should we tell them it's our honeymoon? Does this mean anything? I have heard stories of them being extra special to newlyweds, but didn't know whether to tell them or not.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!! I have one thing checked off the wedding check list! Only a BILLION left!!

I'm glad I could help you and that you found better prices.

Sure, mention your honeymoon, it can't hurt. When DH and I visited Disney in 2001 I mentioned it was our 10th anniversary celebration and at the Hoop Dee Doo we got the honeymooners table which was front and centerstage....table number 13! :teeth: We had only made our ressies a few months prior and Hoop takes ressies up to two years, so to get a table that good with ressies in such a short time was awesome!
I recommend Cathy Miller as an agent and tell her it will be your honeymoon and I'm sure she will make an effort to note it on your PS ressies if you make any and maybe even on your ressie to the hotel.
Keep me posted,
