Should we stay at POP or upgrade to a moderate?

I think it's important on when you are going. If it's pop warner, cheerleaders, or South American tour groups, Pop centuries food court can be a mad house at peak eating hours. We were there in Feb 14 and made the mistake of trying to get breakfast at the food court. It was so crowded. Other than that I would stay there again...

How do you find out what times to avoid? (Obviously, random tour groups are unpredictable, but are the Pop Warner and cheerleading competitions Disney events that you can find on a schedule someplace?)

We stay at deluxe, moderate and value..just depends:) When it is just the two of us, we opt for POP..we are not in the room that much, we drive our own car, so transportation isn't an issue - and we save enough between POP and, for instance, Riverside (which we really like) to pay for our food. The difference for 5 nights at least $400.00 or more.

We have had very good experiences with POP --truth be told, I prefer Riverside-- but not enough for the price difference.

Our favorite deluxe is Wilderness Lodge and we stay there every year with our family - that's a wonderful hotel!

Good luck with your decision!

I love Pop!! I just returned and took my coffee pot this trip. It was very convenient.
However, if I could afford it, I would definitely give up the DDP at stay at GF or Poly!!

I think POP warner is early December and the cheerleaders and tour were there when I was there in Feb. It's only a hotel thing though, crowd wise isn't noticeable once in the parks. Can effect buses too.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I have decided to switch to Poly but keep the DDP. It wasnt just the coffee makers, it was also the small beds and small rooms, no slides, etc. I agree with the poster that said that I will most likely feel a giant downgrade from SSR to Pop...I want this to be a vacation not feeling like I'm in a motel 6!

I don't have much experience with anything but the values. We stayed at AKL a few years ago and actually missed the values. IMO it's not worth spending more money just for coffee. You could go to the food court and get coffee there.

I agree. We stayed at Coronado twice which has coffe makers and prefer the mods, but even there we always just bought the refillable mugs and traveled as often as humanly possible to the food court for coffee and drinks refills. It can be a shorter walk at Pop to the food court, too. I wouldn't switch resorts just for this reason.

I would go Mod over POP but honestly I would go to an All Star before POP.

I don't mind POP but it and AoA are the last resorts on my preference list. They were louder and more crowded and I had less than stellar bus service.

I've never noticed a difference in food quality, linens or beds between Value and Mod. (Or really at Deluxe either)
