Should we spend more $$$$ and upgrade room?

We have a standard room booked for AKL for 12/11-12/20 (9 nights), with 10day MYW tickets and the ddp for $3041 (2 adults, 2 children). I got the 40% code, so got a great rate. After reading many posts, everyone is saying that Savannah view is SOOO much better. The new price will be $3466 to upgrade to savannah view. Please give me opinions on if the experience will be worth the extra $420. I originally booked for POR and keep upgrading the package. I'm confused and don't know if I should spend the extra $$$$. If you can afford it,I would upgrade... I had a standard view once...I looked at the front parking lot...I had a Savannah view last time. It was spectacular.

I say just stick with what you got.. you might get upgraded.. on the other hand.. you might not.. but you can always go to other places to see the animals.. and save almost 500.00 How much are you in your room anyways?

I took that chance one year with a Standard View and was happily upgraded to a Savannah View. I checked in on July 4th, a very very busy time of year and I was very surprised. We loved it! The next time we stayed at AKL we booked and paid for a Savannah View. It was worth it to as it became my DH's favorite resort.

I rarely encourage people to upgrade to a better view, but I think it's worth it at AKL. Sorry to spend your money so freely!

how much time do you plan to stay in the room?
I would probably save the money for another trip and you never know, you could be upgraded.

With that amount of money you could book and Illuminations or Wishes cruise, eat at Victoria and Alberts Chef Table, Dine with an Imagineer, take your kids on a souvenier shopping spree...

We stayed last fall and were upgraded from standard to pool view. It was very nice, and we could see the animals from across the hall. I suppose having savannah view from the room would have been cool, but we don't spend much time in the room. It was more money than we wanted to spend - esp with two rooms. Seeing the pool in the morning was nice, and there was no mistaking where we were. In our time there, we took time to appreciate the resort. We easily coul d have spent more time at the resort, but that's the great thing about WDW, there's always more to do/see than you have time to do.
