Should we skip MGM?

Not sure if it would be worth it because of our girls ages--2 and 5. We are doing a short trip this time and MK and AK are our "must see" parks. Can we do without MGM this time? Is there anything about it we shouldn't miss? I haven't been to MGM myself in years, but if we have time I'm tempted to do Epcot rather than MGM. Any opinions?

Honestly I'd say yes. My kids were 7,5,2 when we went last month. The 7 yr old enjoyed MGM but the other 2 not so much. They did like the shows (Muppets, Mermaid, etc) but just waiting around for shows wasn't so much fun. You could probably do 1/2 day and hit the highlights or just skip it and wait until they are older.

In my humble opinion..the Fanstasmic show is hands down the best thing at DW...brings me to tears...if you have a hopper pass....do AK until 3-4..plenty of time..then hop over to MGM..do Mermaid, and let them play in Dina bones..then do Fantasmic...you will be amazed!!!

I would agree with kedaniels maybe just half a day but I wouldn't write it off completely if you have time to fit it in. AK doesn't usually open as long as the other parks so maybe you could hop on over to MGM after AK. We left AK at about 3pm last year and went over the MGM and still managed to do everything we wanted. My two DD's love going to Little Mermaid and the Playhouse Disney Show not to mention they love Fantasmic at the end of the day.

MGM is one of our favorite parks. With you having preschoolers I would think they would love Playhouse Disney. Me personally...I can do AK in half a day or so, not my favorite park by any means...if you can work it in I would diffently go for it!

Also, don't forget about the Beauty and the Beast Show or the Magic of Disney Animation. That is a great place to have some fun and also see how they do stuff and what they are working on. My kids have always loved both of them.

I was thinking, like others have mentioned. AK closes pretty early, with a hopper pass you could easily head over to MGM and catch the highlights, one of which is definitely Fantasmic in my opinion!

What's Dino-Bones? Do you mean the thing at Animal Kingdom? Because the "Honey I shrunk the Kids" Playground gives me hives....

Personally We're skipping it this trip only because we were just there in December and we will only be there for 2 days this time...

I was going to say skip it, but then I remembered the Beauty and the Beast Show...that's such a great show. If you can fit that show in then great, but if not, I'd skip MGM...

mgm is my families fav park.


with your childrens ages you can do beast, mermaid, playhouse disney, movie ride, tons of character meets without the lines of the other parks, Muppets, fantasmic is our fav ending...etc


And that is just for the kids.


I would never miss mgm, over ANY other park.

If you are going to skip either the Studios or Epcot I'd ask you "Which is more important to y'all, shows or rides?" If it's shows you would be better off at the Studios, if it's rides, your best bet is Epcot.

DD(5) really liked MGM, it would be good for half the day. A whole day there was a bit overdone. She liked the little mermaid show, loved the muppets 3-d, the beauty and the beast show was really great. And she had been waiting months to see the Motor Action stunt show. She loved it!!!! We could have avoided the Star tours she hated it! And the great movie ride, again hated it. She had no interest in the honey I shrunk the kids playground. She didnt even want to go see it! Playhouse disney wasnt open the day we went it had some technical difficulties. So we are going back for that. We were there first thing in the A.M. and here is where she met the characters she still raves about. (There was no one there!!!!! The park was empty untill around noon.) She walked down the street holding hands with Donald, spent time with JoJO, and met the PINK power ranger! (No clue what a power ranger is or does but she was so excited to pose with her!) And the MOnsters Inc guys, the toy story characters, etc. The parade was cute, that is really the only parade we found a spot and waited for. I would go for a morning before it got busy and then head out around noon to some place else. That is my plan for this December, but we will go back one night to see the Osborne Lights, I have never seen anything like that in my life, Too Cool!!!!

If I had 2 and 5 year old girls I would definitly take them to see the Little Mermaid Show. Heck, my 18 year old "princess" still loves it! Beauty and the Beast is great too. And there's Muppet Vision 3D, which is very kid-friendly; nothing to scare little ones, unlike Its Tough to be a Bug at AK.

MGM is truly my least favorite park, but since I love them all that isn't really saying much. I just love it a little less than the others!

I would think for younger children you may actually have more to do at MGM than Epcot. It really depends on your children.

MGM is my least favorite park. It does have its' high points with tower and RnRC as well as fantasmic. MGM is mostly shows and not a lot of bang. When my friends are comming down here next week i plan on doing animal kingdom and then going over to MGM an dhit the high points and that should be sufficient. the only problem with going later in the day is that you usualy miss INdiana jones and LMA stunt shows.
