Should we or shouldn't we?

So, should we go for the DVC? After taking 3 trips this past year we have decided to make this an annual trip. We have stayed at Poly, AKL concierge and ASMu (not a favorite of ours but we thought we should try it). Currently we get 50% of rack rates, for the season we chose to go, as long as rooms are available. There is no guarentee that those discounts will continue forever but they should be around for at least 3 or 4 yrs.

The total cost for the rooms (21 nights) over the last has been $2600.00.

Do I ride out the discount then join the DVC or join now so I don't pay higher prices for points later?

Thanks

Go for it, the points are only going to go up for the next decade or so.

Staying in a one bedroom or larger unit can not compare to an studio in any hotel.

We bought for one reason and one reason only, comfort. I'll take a DVC villa with a kitchen over any room in any hotel anytime.

If you are going every year, staying on property and not doing mostly weekends; you will do better with DVC in the long run or you will get better accomodations for the same price.

Speaking strictly as a DVC Witness, It pays for itself rather quickly, but if you are at WDW, set up a meeting with a guide. Most are low pressure, mine even told me I shouldn't buy in when I first started looking. They will be more than happy to run the numbers. BUT MAKE SURE THEY INCLUDE THE ANNUAL MAINT. FEE in the numbers they run for you.

Again, they can tell you if it is a good Idea to Plunge Now. My favorite quote on this matter is "You can bank points into the next year; I haven't managed it yet, but someday I might!"

"DVC Witness" - many of us are just that aren't we?

I agree with all of the above - especially the space issue. A 1BR is so very much nicer than a regular hotel room or suite.

My 2 DDs are now very spoiled as a result, however...

good luck with your decision.

It took us a long time to see the light, and after finally buying in in 1997, we wonder why we waited so long and didn't save those $'s toward the DVC cost. One word of advice is to know which DVC resort you are likely to enjoy most. The only way to do that is to have a guide let you tour them all. You can always buy a resale for those resorts already sold out by Disney.
