We are trying to decide whether to go to Universal during our trip in December.

Here is the scoop. DH is 58, I am 45.. 2 Adult cousins are going both over 50. Mild rides are okay but due to back issues hardcore rides are a no go.

What is there to see and do in either park? Are there shows? Are there mild rides? which park is better for our age group? It is really hard to find out details about either park.

City Walk - what is there? How much time do we need to shop and tour? I am sure we won't be going for the nightlife as we are pretty layed back on that these days?

I just don't know if its worth the time or money to give up a day?

Any and all advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

YaytezIOA - thanks for the link.. I had actually already read that but it doesn't answer the questions we have that will help us decide whether to go or not.

Anyone else have any other info?

Thanks

There are plenty of shows and "mild rides" The only ones that would definately be OUT I think is Hulk, Dueling Dragons and The Mummy. There are alot of other rides and shows that you can enjoy! Don't think of it as "giving up/wasting a day" but rather GAINING a day of fun for your party! :cool1:

with early arrival and a good plan for touring, you should be able to do both parks in one day....its ALOT of walking, but you really need to see both parks! I would recommend a day for each park, but it seems that you only have one day to visit. THere are people here that would be able to help you out with the "MUST SEE & DO" list for a one day visit!!!

Tlinus pretty much hit the "nail on the head" with their advice on the parks!:thumbsup2

As for Citywalk, that can be toured after the parks close. Maybe plan on eating dinner there. My 3 choices are Margaritaville, Hard Rock Cafe and Bubba Gumps. All three restaurants have their own gift shop. Citywalk also has a large Universal Store selling park merchandise, as well as several specialty shops. There's also a 20 screen theater showing the latest releases.

i know a lot of people in their 50's and 60's that regularly go to UO and love it. i guess it was your wording of anything for people of your age that made me read your request twice. UO is a fun place to explore. there are many rides and shows you could take in.

since you have back issues, stay away from the coasters and any ride that indicates medical restrictions.

check out the website to see what rides would interest you.
if you are into shopping, you will find stores in the park and plenty at city walk.

hope you do go and try universal at least once.

I can thank my mother for being the complete die-hard theme park junkie that I am. She never moved us more than two hours away from WDW, and it was not uncommon for us to do day trips to WDW monthly.

She's 55 now, bad hip, bad knee, high blood pressure. We took her to USO about four years ago (kicking and screaming being the Disney purist she once was), and she's never looked back. She positively LOVES USO/IOA. She doesn't do thrill rides, nor clubs. She does like to relax on vacation, enjoy good food, good company, see some characters and go on plenty of rides that don't aggravate her blood pressure, hip and knee.

All of this she can do at USO.

What's almost funny is we invited her down to the timeshare at the end of this month for our trip. We're doing four days of WDW, then moving over to the HRH for three nights of USO. She doesn't care to join us for our WDW days. She only wants to come for our USO days.

I think you'll have a grand time at USO :)

i hope the original poster read yaytez's link.
it is a great source of info and should be a sticky for newbies.

you will find more info in the link than you asked for.
i know it will help

It does have great info and it is a sticky :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info. I will share with my DH and make a decision but it looks like a go, at least in my opinion :)
