In all my trips to DLR, I've never been to BB.

On this upcoming trip in September it will be DH, DS9 and DS5. Should we go to BB?

I have no advice, sorry, but I am curious about the replies. We are a family with very similar ages to yours, so I am interested to hear what people say.

People debate the quality of the food (I like it) but I think there's a general consensus that the atmosphere of Blue Bayou cannot be beat. Personally, I'm a big fan - try and go when it opens so you have a better shot at getting a waterside table so you can watch the POTC boats go by. They also have glowy punch drinks for the kids.

It is a must do for our family...love the atmosphere and the food! Definitely go for lunch for cheaper prices :)

We went there in September with DD1.5 and DS3 and it went really well. I was a little worried from the mixed reviews I had read, but I'm glad we gave it a try anyway. We all enjoyed the atmosphere and DH and I both thought the food was good. We did choose to go for lunch instead because I didn't want our little ones to bother anyone who was trying to have a romantic dinner. There were other families in there too, so your kids won't be out of place. We showed up a little early for our reservation and requested a waterside table. They said it could be over a 30 minute wait but it was only 10 minutes.

The food is fine, but the atmosphere can't be beat! Kids will live eating inside a ride! Definitely something to do.

We have been waterside lunch and dinner many times, besides Club 33(if I had the option) I and the family rather eat here. Never had a mediocre meal and the service has always been spot on for us...Tty it, you may enjoy it.

Have fun,

Jack

I might be wrong, but I thought lunch prices were the same as dinner now? Love the atmosphere but I think food and service mediocre, especially for the price. With kids that age, I'd just go for dessert-save money and time but still experience the atmosphere.

We love it. Kids didn't really seem to be into it but enjoyed their food. DH and I think the food is great. Always good food and great service :)

Last year I was lucky enough to do a girls weekend and we ate lunch at blue bayou. A first for me eventhough I've been to Disneyland more times than I can count. I loved the Monte Cristo sandwich. It was pricey but could have feed 2. My hubby is still jealous I've eaten there without him, since he took me to Club 33 two Christmas' ago I guess I owe him a Blue Bayou lunch!

We go every time and have never been disappointed. Don't be sorry if the kids have to settle for mac n cheese it's crazy good there, I stole some of my kids lol

That's a good thought!

I love it - have been many times. I will be taking my DH and DS10 for the first time next month. We are going for lunch. The atmosphere, as many have already said, cannot be beat.

I think you should do it. We ate dinner there the last night, and it was a great way to end our trip. We all thought the food was very, very good. I think it will add to the memories you will have for the trip. We had a 4:30 reservation for a waterside table. My advice would be to set aside the money on a special giftcard, and pull it out when you pay, that way you won't feel it as much. I think for 8 of us it was between $400-$600 with tip, I can't remember. :flower3:

I think its something every Disney fan should experience at least once. With that said, on our first family trip back when my DS's were 4 and 8 (They are now 17 and 13... yikes!) we went to BB thinking it would be a one time special thing, and now it's a must do every trip!

Lunch at the first seating (usually around 11:30 am) so you have a better shot at a waterside table is my recommendation.... the boys will love watching riders float by as you all are dining.

We don't have any little ones so I can't be much help there. My DH and I tried it our first trip together in 2012 for his birthday. It was supposed to be a one time special event but we enjoyed the experience so much it is a must now. The atmosphere can't be beat and we both enjoy the food as well.

If you can afford it I would totally recommend giving it a try

Since your smallest will be 5yo, I'd say go for it. It's a cool experience as long as you don't have a very young child ruining it for you. And believe me, they will. At the age of 1, 2, or 3, they just KNOW when you've spent a lot of money to have a great meal with great atmosphere. But at 5yo, there shouldn't be any melt downs. It's a cool experience that I hope to do again once my kids are all grown up.

We went for my birthday in March.

My opinion is that while I think the atmosphere is good, I found the food to be mediocre at best. We showed up 30 minutes before our reservation time and asked for a waterside table and we waited the full 30 minutes before we were seated, no short wait for us!

The service was nice but the food was not. My son's steak was so over seasoned that he was completely unable to eat it and we had to get a new meal for him. The salad DH and I both had was very good but our main was sub-par in my opinion.

DH and I went there when we were on our honeymoon almost 15 years ago and did not go back until this past March. It will likely be at least 15 more years before we go again, if at all. It's not the worst food I've ever had a DL, that prize goes to Cafe Orleans where I had a meal that was completely inedible.

Is it something that you *should* experience once? Yes but for my money there are at least 3 other restaurants that I would go to for a nice dinner WAY before I would go back to BB.

I say try it :) We went 4 years ago for the first time, and I was so excited to finally be there, after going multiple times on the ride as a kid, but never eating in the restaurant (my parents had a tight budget) that I didn't even care that we didn't get waterside. I thought my jambalaya was really good too. We loved the experience. This year we are taking a 1 year old and a 3 year old and we are going to attempt it for an early dinner.
