Should we "defund" NPR?

It has nothing to do with disagreeing with me. It has to do with disagreeing with the facts of the NPR sources that I posted. An independent group actually counted the sources and published a report. I could not care less about your opinion. I simply find it sad that you don't base your opinion on facts, that is what makes you wrong. And, obviously you didn't understand the multiple meanings of the word liberal, or you wouldn't have kept on the issue after it was explained. And, if owning a dictionary makes me elitist? I say bring on the elite!

For someone that doesn't care about my opinion, your responses indicate otherwise. ;)

I find it sad that my experience listening to NPR doesn't count as a "fact" to you. Maybe it would be a fact to you, if I agreed with you? Hmmm. Interesting.

I find it interesting also that you continue to state I don't know the meaning of liberal, a very basic word. It does sound very elitist of you. It says more about you than me. But if that floats your boat go on believing it.

Well, I guess homeland security is bigoted too.
You will note that homeland security hasn't banned all muslims from air travel. Apparently, they do not view all muslims the same way. Also, you will note that when I, a non-muslim, go through security at the airport, I am not put through less security than if I would be had I chosen to be muslim.

And who might all those complaints have come from? I'm guessing from those on the extreme left. Surprise, surprise.
I'm guessing that they came from NPR listeners. A group that NPR doesn't need to peave.

Nor did I imply that any of the above was the case.

Does Homeland Security not monitor Muslim activity?

I have no doubt that she does. Shall we used the word "progressive"?

Uh, you can use whatever word you want. And it still will have nothing to do with my screen name, which was what we were discussing based on her false assumptions.

Who's assuming that 1.5 billion of them are out to get us? I certainly do not believe that, but it was the EXTREME Muslims who DID attack us on 9/11, in the name of THEIR religion. That's not exactly something that we can or should ignore. Do you not believe that they are still not plotting to attack us, AGAIN?

And our current leadership has opened up the door an rolled out the red carpet for them to do it again which I hope NEVER happens but if and when it does I am sure they will play the blame game which would be typically behavior for them.

And where exactly are they in their ratings? Not quite last?
Last month, CNN had more viewers than Fox News. Where are you getting your data from? Not Fox News, I hope.

Is there not enhanced scrutiny and searches of aircraft and passengers originating in middle east or predominantly muslim countries? The answer to that of course is "yes'. Our political correctness with be the death of us.

Exactly.

Show me where I said it.

It.can't.be.done.

The part that makes it bigoted is when you assume that all 1.5 billion of them are out to get you.

You directly responded to a post saying that bigotry is when you assume all 1.5 billion of them are out to get you with a response that Homeland Security must be bigoted as well. What were you referring to unless you were saying that Homeland Security believes that 1.5 billion people are out to get us? Did you respond to the wrong post?

I believe that Al Qaeda is out to get us, and we them. I don't believe that every muslim that I come into contact with is out to get me. I'll not fear one fifth of the world's population because a few thousand of them are evil.

I thought you didn't care one way or another about my opinion?

This is why we as a country can not have an honest discussion about issues. It's this "gotcha" PC crap. No I didn't say directly or indirectly that all 1.5 billion are out to get me, the US, or the world. No. Just no.

Homeland Security has to start somewhere. The terrorists hide and blend into society. I guess those facts are "wrong" to you and you don't care about that either. Anyway, Homeland Security monitors Muslim activity. Dispute that. Nit-Pick that to pieces. Have fun with it.

And this would not be a political thread how?
Who knew this thread would go to hell in a handbasket so quickly? :rolleyes1

Thanks Dawn, for a blast from the DIS' past. :rotfl:

The answer to the question is no. NPR has the right to insist that their news people at least TRY to have some kind of objectivity. Juan Williams has not for a long time. Juan could not be a NEWS person on NPR and Bill O'Reilly's handmaiden at the same time. In many ways he made is own choice and it seems to be working out well for him.

This argument is conjecture and political in nature and should therefore not be discussed here.
