We are scheduled to leave Friday, the 17th and were supposed to be at DW through the 24th. We are soooo excited...our first trip to DW. But, Im so bummed. The weather channel says to expect rain the entire week. I know it rains alot in FL this time of year and I can handle a couple days of rain but not sure about a whole week! Are most rides indoors??? Now with the new storm, Jeanne, we're thinking maybe we should reschedule to leave on the 25th. The kids will be so dissappointed but I sure was hoping for a dry vacation. What do yall think? Thanks!

Buy the silly yellow ponchos and have fun anyway. The way I see it, I'm wash and wear and so far haven't melted in the rain. One good thing when it rains, the parks seem to clear out. I could never figure that out, go all that way and sit in a hotel room because of a little rain.
Go, enjoy and don't let a little wet weather ruin your vacation. There are worse things in life than rain in WDW.

We are going. I already changed from last week and am unable to change it again so were off on Saturday morning.

In my opinion, unless there is a hurrican bearing down like in the days right before Charlie and Frances, there is no point in postponing due to weather. You'll never have a guarantee. You could postpone now because of rain and you could re-book when there is a freak cold snap. Or a cold snap and rain. Or a once every 1000 years snow storm. Or locusts. ;) Seriously, just go and have a great time!

I know it's not the best or most indepth source, but I've been following accuweather.com, and they do not predict much rain for next week.

My problem right now is my stopover this weekend is in Nashville! How funny would it be if I got stuck there and the weather in Orlando was great! LOL!

We are scheduled to leave on Saturday as well & are watching the storm closely. I am crossing my fingers that it will change it's path. We went to DW two years ago in September & there was never a threat of any hurricane or tropical storm! It is just a really really really bad year!

We were at WDW after Charley and during Frances and it rained most days for a little while but the rain was really warm and we took lightweight umbrellas with us and had no problems. We didn't go out during the two days Frances hung around so I don't know what it would be like if it was constantly raining but we really enjoyed ourselves. We are from Washington State and used to rain so maybe that's why it didn't bother us. The parks were really empty and maybe because of the threat of more storms they will remain empty. We were able to walk on most rides the week before Labor Day. It was a little more crowded the week before that, but not much. The Friday before Frances the longest we had to wait was 15 minutes for Big Thunder Mountain-we walked onto all the other rides. So . . . as long as the parks are open I think you'll be inside riding everything because there won't be any lines so you won't get very wet.

HEY there, if you have priority seating for CRT for 4, then by all means cancel and give them to me. But if not, grab an umbrella and come on down.:umbrella: princess:

I leave on Sat. for 10 days in WDW and I'm just taking Teva sandals that are water proof and plan on jumping in puddles with my girls who are 2 and 3. It is to rain here in PA so I'd rather be in the rain in WDW than in Pa. Go and have fun....I was in Hurricane Erin in 1995 when I was on the College Program and Disney has that mastered, you'll be fine. I wouldn't risk my girls if I didn't think everything would be fine. I'm looking forward to short lines and seeing a lot.
See ya there!

I am leaving this afternoon for WDW and would never let a chance of rain stop me from coming. Usually what happens is you go inside an attraction with the sun out and come back out and the ground is wet and some people have on ponchos and you looked dazed and confused as to what they are doing ,,,then you realize it rained for about 10 minutes while you were inside.

It is a great time to let the kids be carefree. Just bring extra shoes and socks, or wear sandels durning the rain and your feet will dry quickly.

Have fun and join the sea of yellow poncho wearing families having fun.

We are also leaving on the 18th and I have to say that the weather and threat of another hurricance (Jeanne) has depleted some of our excitement for this trip. Instead of packing and anticipating our trip, we are hooked on the weather channel and computer tracking models. This morning on the weather channel they showed Jeanne heading right to Florida. There is actually another one right behind Jeanne !!!!!!

Let's all keep our fingers crossed! I haven't even finished packing yet b/c i am afraid if I do, the Hurricane will get worse & i will end up unpacking everything. I am also hooked to the weather channel. this is all very depressing but on the up side I would rather be in WDW rain or shine then be @ home or @ work for a week! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I do not want to sound rude to people, because I share some of the loss of "pre-trip"excitement with all of the weather. We are going on the 25th, and realize that we may have to deal with some weather. It is normaly to be concerned with how the weather can effect a vacation, especially to WDW. However, saying that there is another one right behind Jeanne, is not only untrue, it is also not necessary. If Trish is referring to the tropical wave that could become a depression, that could become tropical storm Karl, then one should be careful about causing other people concern. This storm is not even formed yet, and there is no way to tell what it will do. I have become somewhat addicted to the weather sites attempting to plan for our vacation, and I would not want to cause anyone to be concerned about a storm that is not even formed. Even if it does form, it will be at least a week to 10 days before it effects anywhere remotely close to Florida.

I think everyone should take a breath and think about what they are posting about these storms.

I have to agree!! It really is!! Thing I heard on the news was that this pattern could continue for the next 10 years they said as the waters in the Atlantic are warmer.

This makes me upset, not only for the residents but for the people going on vacation - like myself next year for the first time in fall - during this season.

:(

I certainly was not trying to elicit scare tactics on these boards, I was simply stating what I heard on TV this morning. I am not a meteorologist and therefore I cannot ascertain whether the report of another storm behind Jeanne is accurate, but only that the weather channel did make mention of it. Perhaps if we are looking to blame anyone for overzealous reporting, we should look to the media.

We're leaving the night of the 24th and we're going if the plane takes off.

I'd much rather be at WDW than sulking at home, so we're going. Hopefully Jeanne will go out to sea.

What I'm really worried about now is our canoeing trip on Saturday the 18th in North West Tennessee. We're not sure how the rain from Ivan is going to effect the river.

Alabama has gone nuts over Ivan. Schools all over the state have closed today. I can understand the Southern half of the state, but North Alabama!!! My son is enjoying the day off though :-)

I have missed this canoeing trip for the past three years for one reason or another and if we don't go Saturday, the group is rescheduling for the 25th and I'll be at the Magic Kingdom that day.

I totally agree about the media. All you have to do is watch the weather channel and listen to the language they use - deadly, killer, pummel, thrashing.

Just read the website. These storms are dangerous enough. The language used by the weather channel simply raises the fear level of those in the path. The national hurricane center provides better information without the scare tactics.

For info on storms check

www.noaa.gov;
www. wunderground.com
www.accuweather.com.

Hope you all have great trips.

I have been absolutely glued to the Weather Channel. If Im not watching for an update I am on the computer checking all the different weather sites for updates. I have been driving myself crazy with worry and not accomplishing a thing in the process. But I have come to the decision this morning after getting up at 4 am to watch...what else...the Weather Channel that I refuse to put myself thru this anymore. Yes I will be aware of the weather but I am not going to be obssesive with it. I have a back up itinerary in case Jeanne messes with my first one. I cannot control the weather and I gave myself a "chill pill"! Keeping fingers crossed and lots of pixie dust to all of us and florida residents that Jeanne will miss everyone.
