We have reservations for SSR (our home resort) and VGF (waitlist came through!) in October, but right now we are leaning towards cancelling since we don't think there will be enough to do. DH and I are 65+ and currently enjoy non-park vacations. We eat at nice restaurants, enjoy the lounges and bars, go to Disney Springs, the pools, etc. We thought about going to Epcot one day, but can't justify the cost. We are not comfortable with crowds at this stage. We'd like to eat at Narcoosee's, but that's currently closed and no opening date announced yet. Right now we're afraid we are going to be 'stuck' in our villa, wishing we'd stayed home with our pets :) What would you do? Any advice?

My husband is >65 and I'm just north of 60. We're a lot like you. We enjoy the resorts, some nice meals and relaxed people watching. We do go into the parks and still plan to do so when we go in October.

It's going to be a different Disney vacation, that's for sure! Just making ADRs highlighted how dismal our dining options are. The menus are not very appealing and the prices are insane! I just want to cancel the whole thing, and I'm the big Disney fan in the family!

We're still going to go. I have family coming in from around the country. We've got a grand villa. I'm packing cards, games and my Kindle. We'll get a grocery delivery of all the bad stuff we're not supposed to eat or drink at our ages and enjoy being together.

I can't tell you whether it's a good idea to cancel or not. I know that we need a vacation after being on COVID alert since March. I just want a change of venue and someone to talk to other than the dog. She's sweet and a good listener but isn't adept at keeping up her end of the conversation.

DW & I are 68. We had a very nice NOV 2020 Res booked. We canceled it months ago. So did my eldest children.

WHY? No Restaurants, no fireworks, no parades, very "iffy" air transportation - suffering the "roach motel syndrome" (you can get in, but you can't get out).

DVC owners - we are booked for APR 2021 - and positioned to cancel THIS, at low cost, if required.

Just us, not touching the "pseudo park" in 2020.

So decide for yourself if what you GET is worth the effort. Only your family can answer that question.

We are also in the 68 age range. We still have our Thanksgiving week booked. We had our March vacation cancelled the day we were supposed to leave. I am missing Disney. We are ready for a change of scenery right now. I know that some of the restaurants that we would like to go to aren’t open. Wearing masks full time isn’t going to make DH happy. I can visualize us sitting around BCV and BRV just reading and sitting on the balcony. We have a few weeks left before we need to cancel. I hope we can go.

Put the money you were going to spend to eat at Narcoosee’s towards tickets to Epcot. I would not go right now if not going to the parks!

OP there are many lovely fine dining restaurants that are offsite. This might be the trip for you to considering exploring outside the disney bubble.

We are mid-50's and went for our 35th anniversary 2 weeks ago. It was definitely different. I would say take this opportunity to go to EPCOT while there are restrictions on the amount of guest and enjoy The Food and Wine as it used to be in the beginning.
We had given up on going the last two years because it had become SO crowded. We were even going up mid-week and it was still a mess. When we were there, on a Saturday, it was so nice. By October more F&W kiosk will be open and it will even be better.
The event was set up and run with all safety features in place and it was still fun!!!

We're in our 60's as well and are staying @ OKW in Oct for 5 nights. Never stayed there so planning to explore the resort, walk to DS and eat outside while there. Not sure we'll go to any parks. We'll have our car so have some flexibility.

I'm 70, Bill is 67. We're headed there in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan and May. We have Florida Resident Weekday passes. We'll go to Epcot to dine at the outdoor kitchens two days, once to AK to dine, once to MK to dine for our Oct trip.

Remember that the path to DS from OKW isn't lit at night so it closes at dusk.

Another couple of "young" seniors here, I'm 69, DH is 70 and at this time we are looking forward to our Disney vacation the first week of December. Yes, we know it will be different, but looking forward to it. But we will continue to watch the COVID numbers and if we feel it's not safe will cancel.

I'm 66 and my wife is 61,I don't see us going before Fall 2021 at the earliest. to each their own and only you know your comfort level.

Thanks for the heads up Deb. I did know that but maybe others did not. We're 4-5 PM dinner eaters so shouldn't be a problem for us with sunset around 7.

We are both in our 70’s, and the HHI vacation that has been rescheduled into October is next on our list. I want to go, Tom wants to go, but our decision will be based on the numbers in NC a month from the date of our vacation.

We took a Smoky Mountain/Dollywood vacation in June, the first week Dollywood opened and had a wonderful time. Then we scheduled a September trip to the same place, and cancelled it about a month ago when TN’s numbers went high. We are hoping SC can lower the numbers to what NJ has now.

Just from reading that I’d say skip this trip and reschedule when things start to look up! Seems like you made up your mind already. It stinks but you’re making the right decision.

I hadn’t really thought of that positive spin on F&W, glad you mentioned it
