Hi.

Seriously considering buying 150pts at Vero Beach for purpose of going there every other February vacation. Just wondering what people think of this idea. For people who have been there, I'd like to know if this sounds like a spot where we'll want to go every other year or if the weather that time of year will just not make it seem like a get-away from winter. We live in Boston.

Our children will be 6 and 3 1/2 next Feb when we're planning to go.

Scary to ask DVC members if it's a good idea to buy more points...:D

BWV is our home, but I can honestly say that if we had visited Vero first, we would have bought there. We love the resort, the beach. It's very different from the gulf side, but we still enjoy it. If the Lotto Fairy would pay us a visit, we'd add on, but for now we'll have to rely on the 7 month window.

Others will have a better answer than me, but I think weather wise you'd be looking at mid 70's that time of year, maybe upper??

VB is a great resort but if you haven't visited, do so first before you buy there.

Paul,
If you plan on going to VB at least every other yr, and you plan on going during President's week(Feb) or Easter week(school vactions)during the winter, than I would say yes to VB.

For the ages of your kids(6+3) they will love the pool at VB.VB is a place where you can really relax, and feel like you are on vacation.Everything at VB is with-in a 5-7 minute walk at most(ocean, restraunts, tennis, etc). The weather in Febuary can be anywhere from 60's to 80's. Which will be a lot better than the 15 and 20's

from the Boston area.

We have pts at both VB and OKW.If you are not to picky at the 7 month window, you shouldn't have any problem getting in OKW when you want, to take your kids to WDW.

we own at BWV and added 100 pts. at Vero Beach. We just love it. My parents have a house in the city of Vero Beach and we just love the area. We are thinking of added another 50 pts.

Hi.

In light of what I perceive to be a feeding frenzy with Vero Beach sales as it nears sell-out and the very attractive MB offer, we bought 150pts through Disney last night. We'll be heading down Feb 04 to check it out. Thank you for all the great feedback on Vero. The place sure sounds like a gem.

You'll enjoy VB. It is a gem.

Is there a certain type of room that you think you are going to stay in?

Once you decide, I'm sure everyone here could help you with the best rooms, views, etc.

Have fun.

Good point!

We are going to request a 2-bedroom lockoff. What are the choices as far as location? What do people recommend?

What else is fun to do? Heard the Character breakfast is fun there. Our children will be 6 and 3 1/2. Thanks in advance.

VB is an AWESOME resort (at least me thinks so.) And if you plan on staying there than it could me a good purchase.
The key is that you want to stay in VB, not buy there because of MB incentives and expect to stay in BWV or BCV.

Thank you. We own a large contract at BCV and bought Vero for the purpose of staying there.

I can't help you with any info about the villas because we always stay in the inn.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I would suggest the highest floor possible-for view and no noise above you.

Your kids will have plenty to do. You will get an activity sheet when you check in. Be sure to sign up for certain things right away if they want to do them.

Our kids always liked the treasure hunt. On our last trip, we could not get our 4 yr old off the pirate ship. She loved it!!.

I heard they re-did the mini golf so that should be nice.

The character breakfast is with Goofy and Max. Sometimes in the busy seasons they add a character breakfast on Wednesday-I think. I know they definately have one on Saturday.

You will definately feel like you are on a getaway from winter.

You can also rent a bocce ball set and play it on the croquet lawn at the resort-our kids love to do this.

I don't know if the shuttle program will be up and running again by the time you go but if it is and you get to see a launch it is absolutely awesome from VB. We were there a few years ago and everyone was running outside so we went out to see what was going on. All of the CM's said that the shuttle was taking off. It was night time and it was probably one of the greatest things I have ever seen.

Congratulations on purchasing Vero poj7! I'm sure you'll find it's a great escape from the New England winters. :)

For fun I just looked at the historical weather info on www.wunderground.com

This year on Feb. 16 in Boston there was a high of 15 degrees and a low of 0 degrees. Snow Depth is listed as 3 inches.

Vero Beach on the same day had a high of 82 and a low of 57. Snow depth of 0 :smooth: :smooth:

Quick question,

If VB is so great, how come it is so far behind HH in selling out?

HH just sold out a few months ago.VB only has 2-3 use yrs left as of today.Sept(ours ) is sold out.So basically they will both(HH+VB) be sold out with-in 6 months of each other. IMO the reason HH sold out before VB is because a lot people that bought there, from the North East section of the country, can drive there in 1 day.

I have been to both and they are both 1st class resorts. HH is a great place for golfers especially.VB has direct ocean front property.HH you have to drive 3-5 minutes to get ocean front through DVC.VB will be a lot warmer in the winter months(Dec,Jan,Feb) You can't go wrong with either place.

P.S. poj7........congradulations on your VB add-on!!

Thank you. We're really excited about it.

Looks like the four of us wll be going down with my sister-in-law and her husband next February and then spend a couple of days at BCV.

Congrats on your VB purchase!
We love VB, and we also use our VB points to stay at VB.
Remember...As more and more on-site DVCs are built, VB and HH will get harder and harder to book at the 7 month window.

Why did HH sell out before VB? HH is listed as having 102 vacation homes, and VB 175. Just a thought. Anyway, both are great resorts, and it really comes down to personal preference.

Congratulations!
I love VB for it's atmosphere and just the way it encourages you to relax. It is a great resort and really takes incorporates the area inot its theme.

We added on at Vero for the 11 month option of going to Vero to get away from the hectic atmosphere of WDW, but with plenty of Disney Magic.

We also love HH, but really wanted the option of going to a warmer climate in the winter months. After this winter I think Puerto Rico is more appropriate!

All of the "Vero People" are coming out of the woodwork! Thanks for all of the comments.
