What should we buy?

We own Worldmark & love it, but we now want more of an upscale timeshare.

We previewed Disney VC & loved it! We live on the west coast in CA & would only use their DVC resorts every 4 or 5 yrs. We were very impressed with their concierge collection & their world passport. I was impressed that we could use our points to stay at places like the Grand Wailea in Maui, the Fairmont in S.F., ....

Money is not that much of an issue. We travel about two months per year & take partial weeks every other month or so. Any comments or suggestions?

Are there other clubs that one can own that allow you book at places like the concierge collection allows?

Thanks for your help,-------------Christine

Fellow westerners here...if you would only go to WDW every 4 years it may not be worth it to you. But if you think you'll go every 3 years (or more frequently) and stay in deluxes then I'd advocate buying 1/2 to 1/3 the total points you'll need and use banking and borrowing to accomplish your trips. 150 points may be too many for you, so you may want to look at buying a smaller resale contract (like 100 points). Check the points charts (link at the top of the page) to determine how many points you'll need. (Remember you can "stack" 3 years of points at once through banking and borrowing.) Then look at available contracts and see for yourselves whether you'll save $ over the long haul. Don't forget there will be annual maintenance fees (mostly between $4 and $5 per point) assessed.

DVC isn't for you unless you plan to use it more often than every 5 years. DVC is a good value if you plan on staying at a DVC resort, but the Concierge Collection is far too expensive to spend most of your points there. It is wonderful for every once in awhile, when you want a change or you have extra points to burn, but you shouldn't use DVC for that every year. Frankly, if money isn't an issue, and you don't want to spend most of your time at Disney, why would you want to buy DVC in the first place? Pay cash for the places you want to go, unless you would prefer to pay more money than you need to every time you want to stay somewhere. :confused3

If you want an upscale resort experience, buy Marriott. It is nearly as upscale as DVC, and you can buy a week for about $8500. Now, if you want to pay extra, you can buy direct from Marriott at $23,000, but you can trade your week in for airline tickets and hotels anywhere in the world. If this sounds more like what you want, Robert Hurbanis is a Sales Executive there, very good. Contact him at bob.hurbanis@att.net. :stir:

If you are impressed with their concierge collection & their world passport they are high point use if you don't care buy and enjoy.
