Should We Bring an Extra Bag for Mickey's TOTP???

We're heading to California tomorrow afternoon and we'll be going to the MTOTP on Friday night. I've heard that there's a lot of candy should we bring our own bag or pumpkin to hold it all in or will they provide something there? All input is really appreciated, and we are sooooo excited to get there to DL!!!

Bring one or buy a good one there in the stores. The one that is given out to each person at the TOTP is flimsy plastic, and it could easily break with the weight of all that candy and plus, it is not festive looking at all!

They do give you thin plastic bags....but we carry a backpack and then just dump our candy in it periodically. Much easier to carry than a bulging little plastic bag. Plus they give you soooo much candy, you need something big to carry it in.

I sewed treat bags that are pretty big I'm kinda stoked about !!! I don't want to show any pictures yet until I get back bc MTOTP for us is in two days !! WOOO!!

Truthfully, the bags they give you are pretty big (bigger than last year) and they hold a lot of candy. I can't imagine that anyone would need (or even want) more treats than that bag can hold. If you visit all the treat stations (or even most) you will end up with LOTS of candy and treats. Trust me - we got LOTS and LOTS of stuff and still had time to dance at the dance parties and go on attractions.

Don't sweat the treats, you'll get plenty. And the bag they give you is more than adequate for the job. It is plenty big and very sturdy.

Well, it's not really about WANTING that much candy. For a child though, it is absolutely thrilling to get that much candy. My daughter was so excited about getting so much candy, and she's not a huge candy eater. She went home and gave about 3/4 of it away to her cousins. She ate some here and there, and we still have some up in the cupboard too (which I probably should have thrown out months ago)!

I guess it's the thrill of the hunt....

Yes. I saw a some cute tote bag looking things for sale that were supposed to be geared towards the TOTP, I think, not just regular tote bags. AND, they sold the little standard plastic pumpkin trick or treat containers with the black strap handle in a few stores too. The ones they give you at the TOTP are just too flimsy - if you snag your key on it or something pointy, the whole thing rips in a second! And they don't hold that much candy if kids want to stop at every treat station (and they do!). We only stopped at maybe five stations and the bag's handles were stretching. That bag could not have held much more candy - they were very weak.

FYI - just in case anyone wants those Candy Corn Ears that were shown on the TOTP thread, they were hard to find. The pumpkin ears were everywhere - and to me, they look kind of cheap. The witch ears were in a few places too. Tha candy corn ears were scarce. We finally found them in a shop in DCA in Paradise Pier, and I think I saw them in one store in DL, but can't recall where. Maybe they will have a new supply in stock now, but they were hard to find last weekend. They are cute, though!

Our bags weren't sturdy at all, IMO! And they was stretching and tearing at the slightest poke of a blunt object! Ours were pretty flimsy! Most of the treat stations were handing out big handfuls of candy early on and that instantly started weighing the bag down and weakening it. As the night wore on, they were only putting like two or three pieces in each bag. The thing is, kids will want to stop at every station, and the bag cannot handle that much candy - we only went to maybe 5 stations and our bag was showing signs of weakening! It will do in a pinch if you have nothing else to carry candy, but it is probably a good idea to have another carrying method with you if you can get one.

I didn't go last year - was it the thinner kind of plastic? I was surprised that Disney didn't hand out any kind of Halloween bags, rather than the Tinkerbell/Wall-E thing they gave. Just somethgn that said Mickey's Trick or Treat Party. But I guess they wanted everyone to buy those! We found that the treat stations were very generous at the beginning of the evening and then as the night wore on, they were tossing one or two pieces of candy in. I think they were running out of candy OR they were reserving the big stashes for kids and not us adults. And the lines for treats started to get very long, so we gave up after about 5 or 6 stops, and then our bags' handles were kind of giving out on us and my friend poked a hole in hers accidentally, so we figured our treat mission was over! But there were a LOT of treat stations - I was surprised.

Did you get approached to do a survey at the TOTP? They were collecting email addresses from certain folks and they got mine. Two days ago, they sent me a TOTP survey, asking me if I was satisfied with the party and the candy they gave out, and the activities, etc. (Our chocolate seemed a little stale, but it was okay.) I guess they are trying to find ways to improve the party. We will see what they do next year!

I mistakenly thought it was in the TOTP thread, but it was actually in a Halloween Shirt thread, but I found it for you. I don't know where there is a picture of the pumpkin ears or witch ears but the candy corn ones are my favorites.

Again, DLR may have gotten more of these in stock by now, but when we were there last week, they were hard to find. You would expect to see them everywhere the pumpkin ears and witch ears are sold, but not exactly true!
