It's good news... I've closed on my DVC. I got my annual dues statement in the mail yesterday and was a little confused?, I hadnt closed yet, or so I thought. I called MS and it turns out I closed on April 18th. Like I said, its good news, but should someone have notified me? I bought direct by the way. We are excited! 1st trip booked for thanksgiving:banana:

When you buy direct, you can start making reservations with your points as soon as you send back the paperwork, which is normally quite a bit before your actual closing, so chances are your membership has been active since March, I'd guess or earlier. I never heard of them calling when you close; I don't think there's really any need for it.

For most people, they have already been in touch with Member Services making reservations, setting up their account on the member website, etc.

actually they made my reservations for BLT in a few weeks on the day I called my guide to buy! Right then and there before I had a number I had a reservation!

which I thought was really fast! MS are just getting my signed paperwork today as I write this. I fedex'ed the paperwork yesterday for arrival today!

When you buy direct all of the background stuff is totally taken care of by Disney. So the dates are inconsequential. You have the points to use immediately. Which is why i think the first purchase should be direct. Much (much) more enjoyable experience buy direct. Congrads  All of our points are at BLT and we love the building. Have a great time.

I knew closing wouldnt take long going direct, I did have an estimated closing date later this month. I did make my resv. shortly after contacting disney, I just couldnt use the member website til I closed (that is what I was told), so after calling yesterday I needed to get MS to give me an activation code in order to use the site. I guess I just thought someone (my guide), anyone would have contacted by email to let me know closing was complete? Not a big issue at all.

doing the same thing here! lol I bought last wednesday, and I close on May 25th, if not before that. I have called MS several times already. Guide did not tell me either, but I found out from MS when I close and I saw it on my paperwork!
I still do not have a activation code yet thou, I think I should by the 25th.
I know I am excited!!:thumbsup2

The same exact thing happened with us as well. We had a rough idea as to when we would be closing but when I phoned with a question(wanted member website access) they had told me we had closed and we didn't even know it! We had a small issue though b/c they started to take our annual dues monthly even though we had opted to pay 1x year. Called accounting and they took care of it for us.

Welcome Home!:yay:

Weird...we bought directly, and our website member info and activation code info was sent (separately) almost immediately!
