My family is falling apart in Texes, so should I go and suport them and help in any way. It is my nature to do so, so should I go agenst my nature or go with it.

Depends upon the nature of the problem and your duties at home. I recall you saying that you are assisting an elderly relative here and that you are also in school.

Unless the situation out there is more dire and your assistance is more readily needed out there for a MEDICAL ISSUE or STATE OF EMERGENCY such as their home burned down, or a tornado occurred and destroyed their home...then I would not fly to Texas at all.

Offer your support remotely. Do not offer cash that you cannot afford to lose.

Sometimes, you must let people deal with their own issues and it isn't healthy to go and run and be the support system. But again--very much depends on the issue. Family conflict--to me, is not one of those issues to get involved in.

I don't know what the story is with your family but I would fly to be with mine in a heartbeat, if they needed help.

Sounds like there is some 'history' that is making it difficult for you to decide what to do.

Hope you are able to make a decision that makes you comfortable:hug:

There is no way to determine from the information provided, or not provided as it were.

It's hard to say without knowing what the issue is, but if you think you being there would help then maybe it's a good choice to go. What does your fiance think?

I'd be hesitant to abandon taking care of the relative with Alzheimer's that I thought she had posted about within the past couple of months. Someone unable to care for themselves pretty much trumps any other problems in a family several states away.:confused3

My only oblgation is school and I could do that romently if I wanted to, and the nature is that My two cusions are pregnant and my aunt is about to loose her mind.

I found a very cheap flight if I am willing to wait untill May 25

Pros
I can finish the semester and take the summer off

Cons
waiting that long

But it would only cost 127 dollors total which is totaly affordable

Just my personal opinion, but I don't think you should go.

I would vehemently vote no.

You aren't going to help the aunt much who is losing her mind b/c you cannot change the outcome of whom I presume are daughters. They can handle their own issues.

Not a significant enough emergency.

What happened to the relative you were assisting locally?

I think it is clear you should stay in school.

Let your aunt deal with the cousins. You can listen to her and let her vent over the phone. You are sweet to want to help tho.

Your obligation is to yourself first. Your 2 cousins being pregnant does not constitute an emergency.

Your aunt maybe having a rough time right now however you can support her from afar while you finish school.

Finish school - not just this semester, but all the way through graduation. Those who walk away, even for a short time, all to often fail to return. You will be able to help so much more throughout your life if you graduate...

time for a reality check here. you constantly post about doing things and missing school like you want permission to miss or quit. if you dont want school, then just quit. dont keep coming up with reasons to miss in hopes of getting permission from strangers to quit. just quit and be done with it. it seems pretty obvious that school is not your first priority. not trying to be harsh, just trying to save you more grief.

I am not going, however I hope you understand that I had so much adrenaline in my body that I would have run to texes if I could just to be there for them

I understand.

I had this happen with an issue with my mom this week. The instinct is to run and try to solve everyone's problem.

But you have to step back, remove yourself, evaluate and make the decision that is appropriate.

And remember what the flight attendant tells you--always secure your oxygen mask first in an emergency!

NO...let your cousins deal with their own mistakes...just as we all are expected to do. Feel sorry for your aunt and offer support over the phone but she has to put her foot up their butts(or not) on her own.

What could you or would you do if you were there?

Even if it's helping with the newborns, you can't do that for longer than the summer, so it's probably just as well to let your family figure it out on their own.

Just out of curiosity, do you use Firefox when you're on-line? If you don't, you should download it from Mozilla and give it a whirl. Obviously, you're spelling challenged. Firefox has spell check built into it. It underlines any misspelled words in red. When you double-click on the red-lined words, it will give you possible choices for correct spellings.

I find this feature very easy to use and helpful. :) You should try it sometime. :)
