Corey and I are seriously mulling over a trip in September. I already got the time off approved. Corey hasn't yet and as of yesterday, she has a new supervisor, who is a notorious grouch. So, we are hopeful that the request will be honored.

So, if, we go, it would be 9/26 to 9/30. I would be off on the 25th to get the dogs boarded and make sure the house is all squared away and then fly out on the 26th. Corey would be out in Virginia onsite before that, so she would fly in Friday morning from VA to FL. We would use DME for our transportation to WDW. We would be totally dependent on Disney transportation, which is always interesting, but for such a short trip, I don't think we have to have a car. We have survived short trips without a car onsite before.

Our 9th Anniversary is in August. Should I splurge and book us at AKL with a Savannah View or CL as her present? I have always wanted to stay there and so has she, but she won't openly admit to it outside of Disney property. :rolleyes1 Since I would like for this trip to be more about the resort and enjoying the F&W Fest, I think this is a great choice. I considered the BC, but I really just get the same vibe from it that I had about CBR and I hated CBR when we stayed there.

Corey's main reason for wanting to go, outside of a serious need for pixie dust, is that Sheena Easton will be there to perform and that Cork, Ireland is a feature city in the theme of "Cities in Wonderland." I want to go because we have gone twice now in September and low crowds rock!

TIA for your input.

I don't, but she is thinking of the budget and I am thinking of the experience. She is looking to keep this low cost and stay at a Value Resort, which is fine, but we could use some time for us and the Value Resorts, well, they just don't offer much in the way of a romantic atmosphere. AKL can though, especially if we are in a CL or Savannah View room. Since we are there over the weekend, I would love to book CL and do the Sunrise Safari, but I think that Corey would kill me for waking her up that early. :rotfl2:

Oh just do it. You can always make more money but you can never make more time, so spend it wisely.

We were there last year and saw Sheena Easton. She was great.

Happy Anniversary!

Lindy, go for it!

Eric & I stayed at AKV CL in March and it is really nice! Most of the evening appetizers come from Jiko & Boma so that is a big plus. Also, if you don't want to wake up Corey so blasted early...Eric was the same way...you could do the Sunset Safari. It is more pricey, but you get to go out in a van on the AKL savannah and it's a smaller group...think maybe 10 or so. I've heard that you get more quality time for viewing the animals than with the Sunrise Safari. Then afterward you get dinner at Jiko with the group.

PM me if you have any questions about CL...I can tell ya what I know from our trip. (Or if you'd like to see my photos I can email you.)

There are ways to do it on the cheap! Check out some of the rental homes in the area, and get a car, sometimes it can work in your favor!

Let us know what you find! :cool1:

You sound like me-- I can be frugal about some things at home, but when it comes to Disney I don't like to have to budget. Stay at a budget resort? *And* be completely dependent on Disney transportation? double eww! ;) When I stay at the BWV, actually, I never have a car and honestly don't miss it. But hey, I can walk to epcot and mgm. :thumbsup2

Re: your trip, if budget is indeed a concern, AKL isn't exactly the way to go. I know I'm a buzz kill for saying that, sorry.

Maybe you could compromise by staying at a *moderate* resort....?

September is a lovely time to go -- I usually go in October because of the F&W festival.

Let us know what you decide!

OF COURSE you should go. Silly. ;)

But you should go in August. Like some days between Aug. 1 & 17. And you should stay at AKL. If you stay concierge you should do that Aug. 1-4. :rolleyes1

Well, if you stay at the Boardwalk, Carribean Beach, or Pop Century resorts over those dates, you'd get to mingle with guests in town for our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding. Those are the ones we've got our room block in.

:cool1:

As of today, we both have the time off approved! So, now, I am still trying to decide where to stay. I am thinking AKL Savannah View or Poly. It will come down to price and how much she yells at me when I suggest how cool it would be to stay at either of them. lol

I can't even absorb what it would be like to be at WDW for 16 days. I find my response as being somewhere inbetween :cloud9: and  . I think that you just need to put off celebrating your birthday and yank the kiddo out of school for a little while and join us in September.

Congrats, where do we need to be to throw pixie dust at you after the ceremony?

Happy Anniversary to you both and please let us know what you decide!! There are no 'bad' choices there!!!

Ceremony is Sunday the 28th, but current plans include a group outing to Epcot for the food & wine festival on Monday the 29th, followed by a visit to the Adventurers Club that night. Those are really the only things we've got planned in "open to the public" places.

Paul and I did just this - AKL with a Savannah View. We stayed on the Concierge Level. We did both of the special safaris. We did the food and wine fest and that big foodie party - sorry don't remember the name - anyway IT WAS GREAT! All of it. Go for it. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We will be at Epcot on the 29th for sure because that is one a "Sheena Easton day" and my honey is dying to see her, so I have been told to plan for us to spend lots of time at Epcot. So, if you want to plan a meet up somewhere along the way, along with all of the other plans that I am sure are boggling your mind, I would love to put a face to the name and give you guys a hug.

Well, more of an update....

We talked about it and she is very excited that I am willing to bump us up. However, she really wants to stay at a Monorail Resort. So, for us, that means that we would be going back to the Poly, because Corey has spent way too much of her childhood at the Contemporary and the GF is just too stuffy for us. So, I am going to book us at the Poly while I am at WDW in April because I can get the bounceback code to cover a couple of the nights and save me some big bucks. I am still hoping one day to stay at AKL, so far, we just haven't found the right trip for it.

I can't wait to go back to the Poly!

You know, we did that once and the truancy people were NOT happy. They threatened to charge me with a Class C misdemeanor and fine me $500. And DS will be in 7th grade next year so I think it best not to taunt the truancy people. :rolleyes1

Enjoy the Poly! :goodvibes DH wants to stay there some time.

Once my mom gets through all of her treatment I would like to take her to WDW. I have already been trying to think of how to work that. Of course it is too early to know exactly what she is up against, but I can be thinking on it while we wait. :)

I would like that, but forgive me if I don't commit to any definite plans just yet. We've got a LOT going on that week, and loads of friends and family that we'll be playing tour guide for (it's like herding cats :headache: ) and I know I'll be going crazy. Added to that, we'll have to check out of the Boardwalk, head back home, and then get ready to get onto the Disney cruise on Thursday of that week. I MUST be insanse for planning so much!

Send me a PM a closer to the date, and I'll know more about how crazy things are.
