I have a reservation booked for Thanksgiving at SSR from 11/21 thru 11/28. SSR is our home resort and we really enjoy staying here. We were hoping to move our reservation over to AKL Kidani for the week on this upcoming trip. We are bringing family and that is the resort everyone decided on. Plus, with the 3 bathrooms and 3 teenagers on this trip, it seemed like a good plan. Until.........

I called MS today to see if my 7-month point was tomorrow or Tuesday. I asked the CM if he was able to look at availability for AKL for our dates and he was able to see that I would have to wait list for 25th and 26th of that week. Basically, the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving itself is booked up.

I'm nervous to waitlist and I am already thinking worst case scenario. We generally do not like to change resorts during our trip and since their will be 8 of us, i can foresee that being a bit of a hassle.

Since Kidani will be new, I can't imagine that AKL owners will be moving their ressies to other resorts.

Any advise? :surfweb:

Not that staying at SSR for the week would be torture or anything. I guess in my head, i was expecting it to be either available or not available. Partially available didn't even cross my mind.

TIA......

You can specify on your waitlist for basically "all or nothing" meaning if you do not get your entire stay for AKL, you will just keep your ressie for SSR. That way you would not have to move.

I would assume that you were trying to get a savanna view (it would surprise me that all the standards would be booked already).

I would guess that you would have a better than average chance of getting it because there is close to 50% of the Kidani resort yet to be declared and likely a significant portion of that will occur before your dates. The downside is you do not know how many are ahead of you on the waitlist (AKV owners).

Long waitlists are harder to get than short ones but if you do not want to take the chance of doing a split stay just waitlist for Kidani, be sure and waitlist for both a dedicated and lock off if you are looking for a savanna view.

Thank you both for your info. :goodvibes

I didn't know that all of the rooms were not yet declared into inventory. I also didn't know that I could waitlist for all or nothing, and I think that is what I am going to do.

The more I thought about it all last night, the less I wanted to pack everyone up with all of our groceries and all of our stuff and move resorts.

It will be the first Disney trip for 3 of my family members and I want it to go relatively smooth. If it were just me and DH, I would do the split stay.

Thanks again!
