Should I Upgrade My APs?

DH and I have PD APs. We love them and try to avoid weekends and holidays anyway due to crowds. Later this month we MAY stop by on a Friday as we have dog care covered. He wants to try for Tron and I love HEA. We could end up staying if we want. DH’s AP expires next Jan while mine expires in October. I could go another weekend day, but I’m sure DH wouldn’t. Upgrading to Pirate Pass is 2x the cost, but it is the same as buying tickets for the weekend. We can afford the cost. WWYD?

I would wait until it's time to renew and decide then. The upgrade has always been available at renewal, even peak Covid. With this news, I think renewal is currently not at risk, especially for Pirate. The pass I wouldn't wait on would be Incredipass, because that one I can see being eliminated.

I wouldn't pay for a whole year of upgrade for maybe one day.

If you want to go for the two days on the weekend, then it makes sense to just upgrade as the cost is the same and then any time you use it on a weekend in the future is just extra. If you want to save the money, then don't upgrade and don't go on the weekend you are considering. Only upgrade at guest services so if you don't happen to go, then you aren't spending the extra money needlessly.
