went a saw Skillet/TobyMac awhile back with our youth group and my three older kids....but my 5 1/2 yo and 3 1/2 yo smaller kids love listening to both groups and i thought they might have fun...but is it too loud for their ears? just wanted to hear some opinions...

I was at the Skillet/ Tobymac concert in Bristol. It was def too loud for young chidren's ears. My head hurt for 2 hours after Skillet got done. Honestly, I thought some of the things the lead singer of Skillet said were inappropriate too.

I am not familiar with the bands, but I took DDs to their first concert at 5. They definitely needed earplugs (so did I), and they were not as interested in it as I thought they would be. We left at the beginning of the main act because they were both falling asleep in their seats.

I saw tobymac with my nephew who was 5 at the time. Originally, his mom AND dad were taking him. His mom was about 8 months pregnant, and finally decided she couldn't walk in to the show, so she stayed home. My nephew was miserable. I was miserable. I can't imagine how his mom could have done it, because I'm at that point in my pregnancy now, and I just wouldn't be able to tolerate that level of noise. It was just way too loud. If you were to go, ear plugs all around. I wouldn't do it.

I went to the Skillet/Toby Mac concert earlier this month as well with my 14 year old nephew. A family behind me had a 3 year old with them :scared1: and it was really loud. I did see another family where the kids had ear plugs.

Me, personally, I don't think I would take small children to it.

Having been to over 100 concerts in my life, if it's at an outdoor venue the noise wont be an issue, but ear plugs wouldn't hurt. You don't need to spend the money on the expensive ones either you can get the cheap foam ones at CVS or Walgreens and as long as you put them in properly they work perfectly. I was never one for ear plugs but once I hit my 20's I started wearing them and honestly wearing them does not decrease the experience from a music perspective they acctually help to cut-down the noise and the music sounds better, plus ones ears don't ring for days :goodvibes

I assume that when you say Christian Rock you mean bands along the lines of SKillet and not Christian Metal like ZAO, Thy Will Be Done or As I Lay Dying so the crowd wont be rowdy at all so that wont be an issue.

In my opinion you should take them they will have fun if they like those bands and the memory will stay with them for a long time especially if they love music in general :thumbsup2

I love tobymac and listen to his music frequently (I've followed him since his early dc talk days). My DS (13 mos) even bounces along. But his concerts, with some song exceptions, are loud (listen to the song "Ignition" and imagine how crazy loud it is at a concert and not just a stereo) and not something I'd recommend for pretty small children if it's an indoor venue. They are great shows, though! I have no personal experience with Skillet.

richmond282, I'd be interested in knowing what was inappropriately said.
