yes my statement was harsh but I didn't elaborate, cause I already did on another thread and I didn't want to go into DLP bashing mode, but I might just do that now for clarity
as Pp said don't set your expectations too high
here is what you find at DLP currently, so you can compare to what you're used to in WDW
- not a single stage show, not one. except for playhouse disney live on stage (yes even the name of the TV channel as not been updated and neither was the show. it's 2 versions behind DHS
- no nightly parade
- a grand total of 6 characters to meet, plus additional ones now and then with no line organized. it's war for a picture with a character
- main street stores closed until 1pm
- restaurants closed at 7pm for most of them. the other serve frozen items
- rides in such a poor state that in the last 2 weeks most headliners were down for a sizeable amount of time everyday, and were all down at the same time at some point
- an accident occured again a few days ago. as a result a lot of roofs over guest areas had to be secured with ropes
. space mountain is in such a bad shape (cracks in the tracks among other things) that the ride gets so rough you need a chiropractor when you get off (I'm not even kidding here)
- rides are in a very poor state. One example is Phantom Manor where 30% of the ride's 230 effects are not working properly or not working at all (source for this is Phantom Manor cast members)
- and the park is often packed wall to wall. no char acter, no shows, no street or sideshows and rides in 101 sttate (stopped) try to imagine the effects on lines ( being an AP holder
I often say that out of 35+ visits in 1 year I only ever managed to ride big thunder mountain 8 times including 3 times in one day. all other visits had the ride out of service or ridiculous lines and no FP
and I could go on forever like this with figures and proofs
and I haven't even begun to talk about rude CMs, rude guests, rude guests smoking in lines, CMs not bothering to enforce the rulew ( I even saw one chatting with a guest who smoked in motors line ...
I really could rant away like this forever and I wouldn't even begin to exagerate
pricing policy is also appaling. you may not realise that currently French guests can get tickets for as low as 21euros that's a little over £15 or $27 per person and no one here is willing to pay more than that for a 1 day 2 park (=hopper) ticket when you get tickets for £46 with a discount or 74 euros ($96) at the gate
other than that the park is beatiful, if you don't look too closely at the paint or fallen resin stones and if you're there to see some flowers and landscaping
don't misunderstand me, it's still a good park to visit, but when you come from disneyworld, after the sticker shock you'll get the ''emptiness'' shock
and if you think my posts are harsh, just consider that they're just the insider's view on the park
you might not notice all of the above on your visit, but what is listed above is just what goes on on an average day, july 2013, wether you notice it or not when you're in the park
