DD (5) is youngest of 3. (DD 10 & DS 12)

DD is VERY afraid of the characters. The ones with masks not the princess ones.

We are planning a short weekend trip for the first time with her. On regular days we can avoid character encounters.
We are hoping to see how she does for a longer trip.

On Sunday, I would like to go to MNSSHP. Will the whole thing just panic her? How much do people dress up? Do they were masks?

I have several options:
1. Take her, DH, DD(10), DS (12) and my Mom for help
Mom can take her "home" if too much.

2. Leave her behind for a special play date with Granny.

What are your thoughts?

The date we are going is Oct. 16. Will it sell out? Could my Mom wait and see how DD does and buy a ticket last minute to join us?

Thanks for all your help!!!

That's a tough one! MNSSHP isn't scary like some other Halloween parties and there would be some fun activites for her, but if characters are a problem... then I don't know what to tell you. Can she watch a parade with characters as long as she's not up front where they can touch her?

I think the characters are pretty good at reading the children and avoiding those that show fear. They would never walk up and scare a child or take them by surprise (I would hope not!).

I hope other DISers have better advice! I say take her, but I am a lover of MNSSHP so that's a biased opinion. It is a lot of fun and the rest of the family would have a blast!

Thanks! I know this will boil down to personal feelings, but to gather facts...

1. How do people dress? Would there be many adults with Mask costumes?

2. Can I buy tickets the day of? Is there any way to find this out in advance?

Thanks!

Take her. The scary things are few and far between (maybe stay away from parts of the parade and the headless horseman). My DD5 was 3 when we went the 1st time and was afraid of anything in a mask. She loved it so much we went back when she was 4!

I going against the group and say leave her with grandma. Your older kids will have a great time, and your younger one will have special one-on-one with grandma. If she were the only child going I would say take her, but since you have older kids, I would let her stay with grandma and let the "big kids" have their night out.

just wanted to say my 3 yr old went last night and hated it.. said she never wanted to go back to the scary disney world. She is almost 4 but did not like the fireworks music nor the haunted things around.. usually she is just fine.. .. I did take her to see Snow white and the 7 dwarfs and the mickey and the gang. just not Minnie as a witch... Something you just don't know till you try.. we skipped the parade per her request! I sure do wish I could have seen it.. I really wanted to... I would love to buy some prints from someone just to put in my scrapbook for that night... she was just terrified.. we did get some candy. I loved Disney! We can't wait to go back.. I just know now she doesn't like haunted music etc... I am sure when she gets older this will be an exciting must see event!

Have fun everyone! Trick or Treat!

My DD5 is all excited about going to the MNSSHP. This is all she is talking about.

Hope everyone who is going has a great time!!

Thank you for your input! We just told the kids tonight we are going! (OCT.14-17) The big kids were thrilled, but my DD5 cried. Not about MNSSHP, about the whole trip!! :guilty:

Finally by showing her pics of CRT, I have her calm.

Do you think I can buy tickets on Sunday for Sunday night? Then I could see how she does on Saturday at the park.
