Should I switch from GF Theme park view to Yacht Club garden view?

We are a family of four adults, with two mid 20's children. We are rope droppers who have been to WDW five or six times in 20 years, but not in the last 7 years. This will be a 3 day trip: arrive Monday evening leave Friday morning. We have stayed at both resorts before. I loved the atmosphere of the GF before (I have no idea why-the decor is meh, must be the location), and thought the Beach Club was ok but not overwhelming. However, I feel like we will want to go to DHS a couple a times because there is more new there and walk the Epcot countries once. If we stayed near Epcot we might also scoot over and do Soarin'. Since the monorail to Epcot isn't working it seems like Yacht Club is the best to minimize travel times. We will be park-hopping. IMO for grownups, the pools are equal. The plan is to rope-drop, eat TS lunch in the park, then come home to swim/nap and go back to the parks late afternoon/evening. The cost would be the same-ish. Who knows whether there will be fireworks by mid July when we go, so the theme park view is not quite what it would be. What am I not considering? Thanks!

Theme park view for me was waking up and sitting outside having a tea while looking at the castle. Than again at night with my hot chocolate. But if you plan on moving your park passes around for more dhs with it only being a 3 day trip I would change. The time you will save on such a short trip just being able to walk will be huge

For a three day trip, I would pick the resort that offers the closest proximity to the parks you will visit most. It sounds like, with hopping to DHS and EP, YC is the way to go.

I definitely would do YC. If you thought the rooms were meh 7 years ago, they are only going to feel worse now (not to mention the wear and tear that has accumulated). Also, in my opinion, the TPV views are nice, but are probably the worst TPV rooms of the monorail resorts (not to mention they take the GF rates from exorbitant to astronomical).

Unless you are planning on spending the most time at MK, your instincts about the YC location being a better fit for your group seem correct. Not to mention, while it’s still expensive, you will save a lot of money at the YC. Even with a water view, you are looking at savings from $200-300 a night

Thanks! We had a CBR stay on our arrival night, but making it a 4 night at Yacht Club instead of 3 at GF Theme Park View is about even. Maybe they'll open club level or the Boardwalk by July and I'll switch to that! I've never done either.

I love TPV at the GFF, but when we stayed we had a young child and it was magical to watch the fireworks from our balcony. I haven’t stayed at YC, only BC, but in terms of proximity for you plans, it’s probably the more logical choice.

I would still do YC over BWI, it’s nicer in most ways. If CL is open, it might actually work out for your group if you drink alcohol and are ok with a lightish breakfast (especially given that u want to do TS for most lunches). That said, I doubt it will be open by July, unfortunately. But even then, you would probably save about $100-200 over a GF TPV room that’s not as nice.

The location of the YC is perfect for getting to HS and EP without having to rely on transportation. One bit of advice- not all rooms have a sofa with pull out bed, so you should add that as a room request. "Daybed, please. 4 adults sharing room"

:thumbsup2

Although I would normally suggest GF hands down, you mentioned rope dropping, walking to EPCOT and multiple days at HS being most important. With that being said, BC would probably work out better for you based on it’s location. Walkability to the two parks most important to you on your list makes it the winner. Good luck deciding!

Considering the focus is on DHS and Epcot, then I would think BC would be a perfect choice.
