Should I purchase a DVC membership?

:) Unlike some of the posters we have always done value resorts....we only sleep in the room mentality. We did get to stay at POFQ once, a gift from my MIL to her son ,my DH, for building her house back after Katrina....loved the moderate...would not be really able to ever afford Deluxe for our 9 night trips yearly.

So here we are making annual trips since 2002....no longer need to do Disney Commando style, know where we want to eat mostly and absolutely both adore Disney. I have been talking up DVC gradually since 2004 when a friend made her purchase and just raved about it. WE generally spend $2500 staying value for 9 nights with tickeys included...sometimes DDP if we get a code.

Recently looked at the incentives on DVC News.com. Talked about it and now we are the proud owners of 210 points at AKV. We had a trip paid in full at POP on the DDP this Oct. When my guide had me on the phone he suggested SV studios which we did...DH is hooked.

Could we spend the money eslewhere? sure...are we OK financially...yes (both professionals). Do we ge the most out of our family vacations at Disney...absolutely. Am I going to miss staying at Pop in October..don't think so. It was a great purchase for us and is my lifetime luxury.

I don't think anyone here will tell you no since we're a bit biased. If you go that often, I definitely think it's worth it.

When I was younger, we used to go once every 3 or 4 years and would stay at a moderate. About four years ago, my parents (knowing how much of Disney nuts my sister and I were) decided to join DVC knowing that they'd be going a lot with their grandkids in the future and that it would be a good investment. And then sure enough, just a couple years later, this past October, I joined as well! I'm getting married in about 8 months and we know we plan on having kids. We already go enough as it is now (ever since my parents became DVC members we go at least once a year), and those trips will probably increase once we have kids.

As I said before, we always used to stay at moderates. We would have never considered staying at say Animal Kingdom Lodge in a savanna view room because it would be too expensive. But now with DVC, we just stayed for 8 nights at a savanna view room in a 2 bedroom! It was wonderful! We would have never done that without DVC. We love the rooms and resorts so much, that we find ourselves spending more time at the resorts than we used to. I definitely believe DVC is one of the best purchases I've made.
