Should I just relax?

I am reading with wonder Bride-to-be's trip report. I am glad that they had such a great experience with the Disney Wedding staff. I don't feel like I am getting much of a good experience so far, I have Bill as my initial sales consultant and I don't know how busy he is but I don't find him very responsive. It takes days to get an e-mail back or a phone call.

I'm booked for an Escape and I believe the contract was processed on 15 Mar as I saw the money debited, I thought I would have had some communication from Disney that that everything was processed but didn't. I was a little worried and sent an e-mail last Wednesday 24th to ask.

I also contacted Bill last week as I wanted to talk to him about upgrading to a Wishes and I have not heard back from him. I guess I am anxious as my wedding is in Jul this year and albeit we decided at the end of Feb to have the wedding. Am I being unreasonable?

Stay on top of him!! In the very beginning he was the same way for me. Then I just started calling all day until I reached him. Also if you send shorter emails he responds faster than if you send longer ones.

Call his assistant John now and ask to be put on his schedule for him to call you this afternoon. :thumbsup2

Just as an FYI mondays are always busy.

I have to admit that I have had somewhat of the same "treatment." I have multiple emails unanswered and some of the answers I do receive are "someone else will explain that to you after you make your deposit." I know they are super busy, but as our only point of contact, it does leave a bad impression that until they receive your money, you really aren't worth their time. In a week and a half, I can actually make that deposit so hopefully I'll get more answers.

Hope you get the answers to your questions soon!

I have paid my deposit for the Escape. Today is the two week mark since it was withdrawn from my account, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that a planner will call soon as I read it takes about two weeks.

I don't want to turn this thread into a rant but wanted to know if this was the norm or if I was being overly anxious or if I needed some expectation management.....

I totally understand your frustration, but I would just keep hoping for the best right now. You will probably get assigned a different planner soon, and they may be more responsive (I think every Escape bride who had a TR recently loved their planner....including me!).

When I booked my Escape, everything was done quickly. But this was also between Sept-Dec area, and I feel as though maybe they were not as busy than. I used to get responses really quickly, and now sometimes I will wait a few days. I think this may just be a really busy time there.

I hope everything works out soon for you :goodvibes

I had very little contact with Bill before I received my planner, due to the fact that we signed everything and sent in our deposit so quickly. My planner then emailed me at almost exactly the 2 week mark and she was great.

Kathleen responded promptly to every email I sent, even on her days off, and was helpful with suggestions when I had a question. While she did not become my best friend (or help me find a dog, as Bill did for Bride-to-Be) she was a big support system during the planning and a relief to have her there on the wedding day. She called me 3 times during the 48 hours leading up to the wedding to check in, and I wasn't a hand-holding kind of bride but I appreciated it.

Escape weddings are meant to be the no-muss-no-fuss version for DFTW and are relatively easy for them to plan, while the Wishes weddings, being more elaborate, get more attention from the planners.

I say give it a bit more time. You'll be assigned your planner any minute now and you'll have that first email introducing themselves and requesting to schedule a phonecall. :goodvibes

BTW- if you haven't heard from Bill by then, I'd discuss right away with your planner the possibility of upgrading to the wishes wedding. That way if you do, they can get you a wishes planner ASAP.

Just my two cents. ;)

I am having a Wishes wedding and I have always received an answer from my planner within a day or two. The florist usually took a few weeks to get back to me at first. Now that I am less then two months from the wedding I get answers back the same day from both my planner and florist. I think Disney gives priority based on wedding date. Not that that should excuse them not getting back to you but once I understood this "system" it allowed me to be a little more calm. :scared1:

We had Bill also and he would take weeks to get back to us. We finally got tired of it and asked to be reassigned to someone else. Now we have Stacey and she is wonderful and very responsive. It has been a much better experience since we switched.

I filled out my LOA info over Christmas, about a week after New Year I had not heard from anyone so I called Diane. She was not available but her assistant appologized that no one had called me and by that afternoon Amy my new planner had called.

I had Stacey as my sales consultant, she was so wonderful!!!

Thanks all - with a few tips and helpful encouragement I have a call booked with Bill tomorrow, however DF's Sierra truck was stolen last night from the parking lot of our apartment building. :sad2: He is really bumming.

So I think we will need to stick with an Escape with some good enhancements. We will need to save some money for this unplanned nastiness. I wish the world was a better place sometimes. Just more to cope with this year.
