Well, I am becoming a bit nervous about availability issues. I expect that my resale will be closing shortly and will hopefully be able to make a ressie September-ish.
:thumbsup2
My question is this: when you are making your ressies outside of the 11-month home resort window, do you make it a practice to have a back-up plan B, or even C, in case your request isn't possible??

I am nervous about all the double developer points running around, as to whether there will be anything to book.

Here is what I am hoping to book:

June 2008, a Sat through midweek trip at BWV, 1-BR Preferred (or Standard view- maybe another night if Standard). If I am able to book in September, that would be about 9 months out instead of 11. True, this is better than 7.

Do you think that I should have a back-up plan/plans, as in different time frame (within the 11-month window) a/o different resort. I really would prefer to get to stay in my home resort for my first DVC stay, KWIM?

Or am I getting my undies in a bunch prematurely??
:confused3

I don't think you are going to have any problem getting a PV 1 bedroom (Pool/Garden) if you book before the 7 month window opens. :)

Since the 1 bedroom units book a little more slowly than the studios and 2 bedrooms, you might even be able to get a SV or a PV (guaranteed Boardwalk view) , but that isn't something you should count on. If those interest you, you could try waitlisting for them.

AFAIK, developer points cannot be used to book until the 7 month window opens. So until November, you are only competing with other BWV owners for your reservation. For the BWV, summertime generally books up at a slower rate than the Fall months.

Good luck - and be sure and let us know when we can officially welcome you home!

I agree with Carol. But the answer to your basic question is yes, you should have back up plans before you call MS.

That way, while you are still on the phone with MS you can explore your other options if need be. Otherwise, you have to hang up and start working on options while people continue to call and make reservations.

I don't think you'll have a problem with a September booking...it's probably the lowest use time of the year for DVC. Good luck! :)
