Should I go to DL?

First of all, let me say my heart goes out to all the people involved in this tragic accident yesterday, especially to the family of the poor gentleman who started his day in such a happy place and didn't know it would be his last. Tragic, just tragic.

I'm going to a conference at the Aneheim convention center Saturday. I'm staying at the Radisson. I'll be going to DCA the last night for a party, so I'll get to enjoy that park. But I'm wondering if I should attempt to do DL too. I *just* got back from WDW, so I've had my Disney fix, but I hate to lose this opportunity to see this park.

The problem is that I will not have a full day. Saturday, I arrive late afternoon. Sunday I have the majority of the day, but would need to get to the convention center for a few hours mid-day. I'm having trouble getting a handle on the 'scale' of the whole area.

Would it be realistic to go to DL first thing Sun morn, tour until about 2pm, head to the convention center until about 6pm, then head back to DL to finish the night? Could I walk to and from the convention center/DL? How about transportation to/from the Radisson in the morning and evening?

Another question--I've been to WDW in early September and the rides were walk-ons, even on the weekend, which allowed me to do 3 parks with only a day and a half available. Would I find something similar at DL on a Sunday in September? Or are there a lot more day guests filling up the parks on a weekend? It seems my abbreviated touring would be more of a value if the rides were walk-ons.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, your plan on Sunday for DL would work fine. The weekends are more crowded here as many locals go to the parks on the weekends but if you arrive early on Sunday you should be able to ride a majority of rides before 2:00.

The convention center is within walking distance (a long walk) but I am sure there are also hotel shuttles that go to the parks. There is also an Anaheim Resort Transportation bus that runs from the offsite hotels to the parks. Your convention will no doubt have information on the transportation options.

Enjoy! :)

You can see a lot in 4 hours, but you also might want to keep in mind the refurb schedule. Are you going next weekend? Space Mountain is closed for an extended period, Splash Mountain is on refurb until Nov., and Haunted Mansion gets its holiday makeover starting this Monday and will be down for around 4 weeks. I would also expect that BTMRR will be down indefinitely. Since you may have already had your fix on all of those rides at WDW, perhaps that won't disappoint you too much. However, the number of thrill rides that are down may make longer longs at some of the other rides. For example, Matterhorn will probably have some long lines since it will be the only mountain running.

Thanks, Michelle, I don't want to waste the ticket price if my plan doesn't sound un-doable. Especially considering what I just dropped for a week at WDW!

CalGal--yes, I'm leaving Saturday. And I don't like thrill rides--at least like the ones you mentioned--so those rehabs don't matter to me at all! Though the BTMR one is just too sad.........
